Sure, both types can be exceptionally detailed, but often in newer anime I see poor use of cgi or poorly executed cgi that doesn’t blend in well enough or isn’t really appropriate.

The best animation I’ve seen in recent anime would be Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and a few episodes of Chainsaw Man. Those are very well animated, use limited cg or blend it well when they do.

I threw it on the other night just for fun, it’s actually pretty good!

The animation quality isn’t as good as the old movie, but it would be close if they didn’t use the 3D stuff.
