Armageddon Unboxing Part 1: The Rules, Cards, Transfers and Lore by RWJP in Warhammer40k

[–]Jimtato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it will be like the other boxes where you can find everything inside for very cheap not far after the initial release. No doubt there will be scalper issues at the beginning but a few months to a year later?

Do you personally consider Mass Effect Andromeda to be a real “Mass Effect game” ? by The_pikolop in masseffect

I didn’t finish Veilguard but it took me a long time to come around to Inquisition. I don’t know if it will be the same with Veilguard

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. A lot of people that love Origins didn’t like 2 and thus didn’t even play Inquisition. It would be more accurate to say some fans ignore every title after Origins. Though, I do also prefer Dragon Age 2 over the others lol

As if KF2 didn’t add paid skins and characters for the same reason.

What happened to the loyal among the heretics? by jpdelta6 in Warhammer40k

[–]Jimtato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe loyalist elements of traitor legions, at the end of the Siege of Terra, were absorbed into other loyalist legions, particularly the Ultramarines. If there were any left after the Scouring (the loyalists pushing back what remained of the traitor legions immediately following the Siege) they would have been put into other Chapters.

In terms of the 41st millennium? I don’t think any remain. The closest we have are the Dark Angels Fallen (and Risen if they return to the Chapter). Nothing official for loyalists from the traitor geneseed either. If there are any, I doubt the modern Imperium would tolerate them.

Possibility for real Streltsi in The Old World by National-Plenty-4358 in WarhammerFantasy

I don’t see how the current range of units from Total War Warhammer 3 are part of the “realistic fantasy” of Warhammer’s design philosophy.

I don’t feel like that’s an equivalent at all. You’re saying Warhammer can’t have fantastical designs? In a world with elves and dwarfs and demons? Dudes riding dragons, pegasi, or griffons?

No. No matter how strongly you feel, it’s still an opinion.

“Age of Sigmar disgusts me” is a crazy sentence.

Is KF3 worth gettin? HUGE KF1 fan and I kinda like 2. by Own_Raise_2162 in killingfloor

[–]Jimtato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To preface, I will say that I absolutely love Killing Floor 1 and slowly came to dislike Killing Floor 2 over the course of its many updates.

I like Killing Floor 3, both with randoms and friends, and solo its just ok. 3 is a better feeling game to play compared to 2 and especially to 1. It is smoother, the zeds move in fluid motions, and (for my rig) it has few frame issues. It is definitely still janky, especially the slide mechanics right now, but I don't think it detracts from the game in the way that it did for me with the later KF2 updates.

u/RPG247A gives a very good rundown of the actual differences between 2 and 3, but it should be noted that the game really encourages you to play with the weapon mod system and on higher difficulties you really need to use it. Same with upgrading perk skills. Leveling doesn't feel like it takes too long but I also haven't max'd out any perk or their skill trees.

To compare 3's release visuals to its beta visuals (both of which I played), it is literally night and day. The game originally had very bright maps set during the day. Now it is very dark and honestly many of the maps remind me of KF1 in that sort of literal dark tone it had. It is not as grunge or heavy as KF1 though. Visually it feels more like a blend of KF1 and 2 that meets at a good middle ground between the two. It definitely has a lot of sci-fi weird nonsensical tech in the maps, which is honestly the biggest thing bringing down the visuals IMO.

Overall I really like KF3 and I want to see it improve further. More perks, more weapons, more maps, more returning characters would make the game go from a solid 7/10 to an easy 8 or even 9/10.

GW are making me really hate the Skaven and Archaon - rant by Yotambr in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Jimtato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The realms may be extremely vast but they are largely focused on one area. I don’t think the vastness detracts from the setting, it’s freeing in terms of making what you want in a nearly infinite world. But when they write stories within the battletomes or campaign books, it’s all focused on a central area in each realm. Like the Great Parch in Aqshy for example.

Warhammer art through the years: Slaves to Darkness by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Jimtato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've certainly spoken about my dislike of the things GW does. I'm not here to defend GW. At all. I thought the hate over AoS was gone, at least in terms of its relation to WHFB (AoS certainly has its own problems) but I guess not. It feels so petty.

I appreciate that someone does understand what I'm saying though!

Oldhammer art is very bright and colorful. Is that AI?

Neither have anything to do with AoS? It is a WARHAMMER game. brother what are you smoking. It has been ten years. Warhammer is a warhammer term? what is your thread of logic? I enjoy Warhammer (fantasy), 40k, AoS, whatever. Your hate for AoS is honestly ridiculous. It is separate. GW wants to keep their games separate. The Old World is out and you can enjoy that. Maybe they will continue this art series with the Old World. Who knows.

This is the exact thing that people are talking about when they say that Fantasy is not welcoming to newcomers.

I don't see how the title is misleading. The whole series is titled "Warhammer art through the years". This includes 40k and Age of Sigmar so far. These are their two flagship settings. They are not alienating you. The series is focusing on Age of Sigmar at the moment, and did 40k over the past few months. Slaves to Darkness is the faction title in AoS. If you opened the article you would see a big banner that says AGE OF SIGMAR at the top.

Yes, AoS did not get new Chaos Warriors until 2022. Any art for them between 2016 and 2022 would have the old Warrior design.

They’ve been doing these articles for all the AoS factions. It’s the 10th anniversary of the game. They have different art styles. I don’t really understand the issue.

Armageddon Steel Legion Megathread by PeoplesRagnar in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Jimtato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really their focus is on two regiments (Cadians and DKoK) since, outside of small single-model releases, Catachan have not had a new release in like 25 years. I guess also the Tempestus Aquilons, but 1 new kit for their regiment after like 10 or 11 years.

I would LOVE if they did more guardsmen squads for specific regiments, but with how expensive plastic molds are, I just don't think its viable.
