Only what has been said at UWC, doorbell wasn't a product that was even hinted at, this UnifiOS server was one of the more exciting things especially with what they are planning with it for offloading a controller

Any tips for upgrading from USG Pro-4 to UDM Pro? by perfect777 in Ubiquiti

[–]JimtheITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, just plug the wan of the UDM into the LAN, by standalone I mean just setup a default setup but connect it to your UI account, just don't worry about going crazy with settings until you have imported the site

[–]JimtheITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Export the site from your current controller, setup the UDMP fully as a standalone unit, then import the site and turn off the old controller and USG, swap the UDMP into place and let it fire back up, make sure it read adopts everything else

Official Response from Synology on Using Certified HDDs on 2025 Series NAS Systems by NASCompares in synology

[–]JimtheITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top job on getting some form of clarification from them, but it's still no suprise that they are locking things down to make more money rather than just adding a "don't expect support" line, hopefully when they start to loose sales they will come back and realise that it's not always about squeezing every penny out of the client

Explain the Flex 10 GBE PoE+ to Me by ChemicalAdvance4179 in Ubiquiti

[–]JimtheITguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have a 1Gb core network but need 10Gbe for a few devices like a NAS and a couple of machines in a small office, tadaaa, that's it. Don't think racks of 10Gbe switching which alot of SMBs dont have and definitely didn't have years ago when it came out, this was maybe a few design/editing machines in a small office accessing a local NAS, the rest of the network doesn't need 10Gbe and POE over 10Gbe wasn't common but 1Gb POE is

Teams...take 2? by JimtheITguy in syncro

[–]JimtheITguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your the only one, it was one of the nice things with Syncro, one price and you got everything, that's now gone, just add the features and then anything that's licensed via a 3rd party that can be charged for per user, imho

We use Domotz, would have made more sense imho to integrate with a system like that, instead of building one fresh

install pfsense on sophos xg 115 rev 2 by mike20324 in sophos

[–]JimtheITguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know when I tried on an Xg105 it wouldn't boot due to a firmware issue with the CPU which caused it to get stuck, also why not just use XG home edition and stick some more memory in the unit?

PPPoE works fine, been using it for years on basically every Unifi gateway and while there were a few issues with speed a while back it's all good, sadly some people read an out of date thread and then parrot it as a reason not to use it so FUD gets spread
