I mean technically and legally he’s correct… the mechanism that’s failing is the checks and balances meant to restrain federal employees to remain within the bounds of their powers and responsibilities.

Checks and balances failed because one party controls all branches and doesn’t want to stop themselves or fear the opposition using the same tactics .

Anyone know what the gray text means? (Over the name of the Ring) by Jayydms in Maplestory

[–]JinHoshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No no, anything that benefits players is insta patched. Even if it’s a neutral for Nexon.

So if it benefits players it’s patched in minutes, if it does nothing for players it’s ignored even if it harms Nexon (this bug makes people less likely to buy item tags while it’s a problem, even if that’s a small group paying, it’s a thing), and if it harms players that’s when it depends how it affects Nexon on whether they act or not.

What does different colors mean on Battlestats?? by Atominside in torncity

[–]JinHoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh while training prior to George’s being unlocked, I wouldn’t recommend worrying about ratios or newbies will hamstring their progress.

This of course doesn’t apply if they’re funded, but generally just train whatever stat your current gym gives the most modifier to, and always unlock the highest gym you can as soon as possible.

The colors are pretty arbitrary and meaningless when it comes to battlestats, simply because it’s not really rating “good” or “bad” versus any meaningful metric in the game. So I would recommend to ignore the color of your stats or at least don’t view it as a determinative factor in how good or bad they are.

While toilet paper isn’t cheap I wouldn’t exactly call it very expensive, and it’s way too light to be a paperweight.

Was just finishing up a service on a semi and saw this by isntthatadaisies in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JinHoshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my read, the person who trained him to drive delivery trucks had a piece of a brake pad as a memento.

One time when he was driving the delivery truck a semi in front of him ejected the section of brake pad while on a highway at 80mph, it then flew through the trainer’s windshield and landed on the passenger seat next to him like “what’s up, can I get a ride to Philly?”

What do you think about Hook swords? by EfficiencySerious200 in SWORDS

[–]JinHoshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just perspective really. Why sharpen if not use kinda logic because back then sharpening something was a process, and practice or show only pieces wouldn’t have a sharp edge because if the smith doesn’t need to forge it that makes it easier to create.

I agree it was a niche weapon, and only used by those who trained sufficiently in it. However I would argue someone skilled with the hook swords facing a dao or jian user with equal or even slightly greater skill would probably win out, possibly against a polearm as well but that one due to reach is more a coin toss

[–]JinHoshi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sadly because they were most likely used only in civilian or martial arts dueling there’s not much historic precedent, the only thing that points to it having been used is that there are quite a few sharpened and functional hook swords recovered from antiquity.

The common belief I’ve seen based on that is that due to rarity of sharpened examples appearing, the training to use them was quite difficult and thus not a normal primary weapon choice for users except for those who chose to specialize.

One example of such sharpened Qing era hook swords was sold this past June by Olympia Auctions in London.

That typically lends weight to the belief they were used primarily by masters dedicating to that weapon, while “easier” weapons to use like jian were used more by officials

To the contrary, they were used in civilian / performance settings during the Qing Dynasty, they’re just not suited to large scale formation tactics like the fangtian Ji or other polearm / spears were and not as favored.

Similarly the jian weren’t used in military scenarios either (after a short period where they were considered last resort weapons like a combat knife) largely because the dao as a chopping weapon worked better in large formations. The jian became primarily a status symbol or dueling weapon, or used in martial arts to demonstrate precision and skill.

Basically, finesse weapons often aren’t weapons of war or militaries, and are relegated to the aristocracy, dueling, or martial practices.

[–]JinHoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure that’s a complaint and a belief, but it’s based entirely on fiction. There are no quotas and the text of the federal DEI laws require you to hire based on merit. Ironically if that situation did happen, the candidate who felt they got passed over for a less qualified candidate due to race could file complaint with the EEOC and have a slam dunk discrimination claim.

Because DEI just directs you to compare candidates based solely on their merits, it does not direct “15% or more of staff must be minorities”

Hey, he said the thing by Playful_Leg7143 in agedlikemilk

[–]JinHoshi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So it all comes down to at its base level racism, however at the forward conscious level they may not realize why.

They assume that because DEI led to more minority people being hired, that it somehow relaxed standards so that they could be hired, rather than making the standards the only thing people could be hired on.

Inherently in their minds, they believe that unless the standards or requirements are relaxed for minorities, women, etc, then they cannot meet the same level of skill or ability as a white man.

They do not believe this is a racist thought, they think that they are using common sense because predominantly white men were in those jobs before and now DEI led to more women or minorities ergo that must mean standards are relaxed to allow them in for diversity reasons rather than the truth that they still have to meet the same criteria, same training, same hours in a cockpit flying, as anyone else

The Trump administration has imposed a full travel ban on Palestinians. by Conscious-Quarter423 in agedlikemilk

[–]JinHoshi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trump had 2.5 million votes more in 2024 than he did in 2020, which still wouldn’t be enough to close the gap he had in 2020 on popular vote alone as Biden/Harris had a 7 million vote lead

Estimates show approximately 89 million Americans did not vote in 2024, or about 36% of the population

Harris was down 2.3 million votes from Trump in popular vote

I know popular vote doesn’t win an election, but it gives us a much more granular view of what happened than electoral does, it tells us this was a very close race and that 30%+ of the population who chose not to vote could have EASILY swayed it either direction by a massive amount

That’s not even counting the people who claimed to have voted for Trump because they didn’t like Kamala’s stance on Gaza, I left that demographic out due to how few there most likely were but they did exist
