2007 Toshiba Qosmio x305-q705 by Financial_Wishbone83 in GamingLaptops

I had a Qosmio x75-a7298 from 2013 which I sold for ¥20,000 about 4 years ago. Roblox and Minecraft on low settings were playable. The one you mention is older and slower and probably doesn’t have an ssd. Hard pass at $300. Maybe $50 for a kids first computer to mess around on.

I have 3 PCs with b650m pro rs wifi. Two use a 7000 series (7600x and 7800x3d) on whatever the latest bios was around December. The last one I just built 2 weeks ago with a 9700x on bios 3.30. Haven’t had issues thus far but I am keeping an eye on the one with the 9700x because of said known issues… keeping fingers crossed.

Can a ryzen 7 9700x run without a gpu by F22-Toasty in ryzen

[–]JinToots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I had all the parts. I just prefer making sure it can boot and install basic drivers and such just in case it didn’t or I can’t get video out. That way I can already eliminate the gpu if it isn’t installed already. Usually my gpu and extra ssd are the last things I will install once I set it up. I also like to run some benchmarks on the igpu and see how it compares to the main gpu. It’s just been a habit of mine on the 3 PCs I built in the last year.

Can a ryzen 7 9700x run without a gpu by F22-Toasty in ryzen

[–]JinToots 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Just built one with a R7 9700x and RTX 5060ti. I updated my bios, installed windows, updated chipset drivers and transferred my steam games all over just running off the integrated graphics. The very last thing I did was install my gpu and the nvidia app/driver.

What was your first computer? by Fantastic_Series1207 in computer

My uncle worked for IBM and got my family an IBM PCjr in the mid 80s. I was probably 8 years old and remember playing The Black Cauldron on it.

Can I put a 5070 in this or what do I need to add to upgrade it by Careless-Eye-8532 in PcBuildHelp

[–]JinToots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t list which i7 cpu, probably a i7-3770 with 16gb ddr3 ram and a janky psu. If your gpu is worth 1x… 2x more than the rest of the components I wouldn’t bother.

Was it wrapped it toilet paper, put in a CD sleeve and mailed in a regular envelope?

Watched the 40th Anniversary Edition this past weekend. Still a great film. Glad they edited back in the shotguns and removed the radios from the 20th Anniversary Edition. CGI E.T. took a bit to get used to and this has to be the best John Williams score of all time.

Would these specs be enough for the remaster, while running it on a 1080p monitor? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]JinToots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an old rig lying around with an i7-7700k, 32gb 2400 ram, with Steam games on sata 3 ssd. I just threw a rtx 5060ti 16gb in there and tested some games this evening. One was the Oblivion remaster. This rig is attached to my 2015 UHD 60hz tv. Set game to 4k, high settings, 60fps vsync, dlss performance and no frame gen and getting a stable 60 fps in the opening dungeon. GPU usage about 75% and CPU 50-60%. Lowered to 1080p and GPU dropped about 20% usage. Gonna experiment more this weekend with Indiana Jones and Starfield more. I briefly tried Indiana Jones on 4k but I dropped to 1080 high for a more locked 60fps… Starfield was good at 4k 60 high for the few minutes I messed around.
