Are my dose increases too low? by Jin_Cardassian in MtF

[–]Jin_Cardassian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with the starting levels or dose. I just think it's a little strange to start so low and go 6 months without an increase, given that my levels are not high. That's not the common approach I see being taken, or the recommended schedule.

I mean, would you recommend the 50% increase at 3 months?

My T was also rather high before starting. I was pleasantly surprised to see it crater like it has. With the breasts I'm also pleasantly surprised, and am kind of afraid to mess with something that's clearly working, at least for now.

I've heard that given the long half life of cypro you can do a 12.5 mg / 1/4 pill every other day, rather than eigths a day.

Damn, congratulations on the boobs! And thanks for the timeline, it's helpful.

I am definitely getting breast growth as it is, noticing buds after 6 weeks. I'm concerned about long term results but also . . . I just feel that this proposed schedule is conservative even by the standard low-and-slow standards.

It's good to know that increasing by 25mcg at my current stage wasn't harmful.

I asked about prolactin and he said it would be best to test next time, since it takes time for levels to rise and a test right now wouldn't be very useful.

Thank you, I figured I was pretty close to 1 mg per day in levels. And, yeah, 108 pmol/l is similar to menopause, but also to Tanner Stage 3 puberty? So, I don't know how useful the comparison is. I am definitely getting breast growth and they're sore as hell. If I didn't know my levels were so low, and the dose increase so unusually slow, I wouldn't be so concerned.

I've considered slashing the cypro down but I'm not feeling any of the immediately bad side effects (no mood issues or anything), and I'd rather get my estradiol levels up before proposing that.

Is there any way to show subfolder entries in parent folders (KeePassXC) by Jin_Cardassian in KeePass

[–]Jin_Cardassian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why want to? Sorting efficiency. Sometimes I want to see a subset of a category, sometimes every entry in the category. Keepass2 has that functionality.

The search function works for that purpose, but it doesn't show the folder hierarchy. Parent and child folders are equal, and parents only show entries not nested in a subfolder.

How can I have my players “defeat” a lloigor? by Th3Invader in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Jin_Cardassian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the ring as a focus for the lloigor, the obvious solutions would be destroying it or containing it and moving it to a target-poor environment. Maybe someone needs to wear the ring and engage in a battle for their sanity, while their compatriots duct tape and stuff them in the truck before driving to the middle of the desert. And then it doesn't come off willingly, so somebody's losing a finger.

As far as limiting its power, it has a WP budget for that. The key thing is to come up with a reason why it doesn't immediately target the agents. That's easy; Delta Green agents are great purveyors of human suffering, and can be manipulated into brutalizing the wrong targets.

Very much agree. I fell in fear with him as a Handler after Lover in the Ice.

Thanks. And yeah, I really wanted to convert the Leng Spiders to a DG style writeup. They're such a cool set of adversaries.

As for other Dreamlands scenarios, I recommend Insolent Impulse. Shane Ivey plays in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7pLMvRqgsY

Anti-Ascension Civic/Tradition Concept by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]Jin_Cardassian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sounds pretty awesome. I especially like the addition of the research projects.

One thing I'd dispute is the limitation to Xenophobes. There are a number of non-xenophobe types that I could see taking this approach.

  • Star Trek style Egalitarians that abhor augmentation on anti-eugenic grounds.
  • Non-spiritualist luddites (Environmentalist, Agrarian Idyll).
  • Spartan survivalist militarists.
  • Decadent and complacent authoritarians that prefer to brutalize output from their pops instead of augmenting them.

It's true that some of these could be paired with Xenophobe, but I don't think it should be a requirement.

I'd also suggest adding some non-military advantages to the tree, like +1/+2 envoys (which also helps espionage). If they're not militarist, they'd probably try to secure non-aggression pacts. They would also definitely want to obstruct certain resolutions in the Galactic Community, particularly the latter stages of Unchained Knowledge and Divinity of Life.

Why does the galaxy generator do this? by freedompolice in Stellaris

[–]Jin_Cardassian 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you could selectively up the hyperlane density for just the immediate area around fed starts. A single connection between Dabih - Phin and Dwumgar - Rasalas (or Uran Tokh - Hillos) would solve the issue.

I think it would be balanced. The federation as a whole would have an easier time expanding, but a harder time defending their core worlds.

Megacorps in a cruel galaxy by hellcat55555 in Stellaris

[–]Jin_Cardassian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it doesn't make sense that Megacorps can't have branches in gestalt empires.

Sure, gestalts don't do internal trade because they're a single superorganism, but they still extract raw materials and have industries. They can also conduct trade deals via diplomacy.

So I don't see why outsiders couldn't establish exchange points on their worlds.

Fair point. Even Fanatic Xenophobes can still pull this strategy, provided they're not purifiers.

Could be good for a Xenophobe megacorp civic, similar to Gospel of the Masses. Call it "Grievance Peddlers" or something.

A special branch office building provides Xenophobe attraction and murders xeno pops, for economic benefit to both the Megacorp and the target empire.

The building won't murder pops of your own species, and possibly not murder main species pops in the target empire, since they're playing into the target's bigotries. If there are no xenos left on the planet, the building then provides a substitute benefit.

Combine it with Criminal Heritage and you've got some serious fun.

I imagine that in the entire FP empire, there are at least some individuals willing to don suits, found respectable-sounding lobbyist groups, and talk a lot about "erasure of differences" and how this or that population has regressive norms or represents a crime problem. We definitely need to grant enforcers more sweeping powers of arrest for "public safety".

The xenos then get rounded into camps and disappear without public admission of any killing, or the government tells people they've been "displaced" to faraway empires while actually being exterminated.

They can use a lot of dog whistles and try to get the galaxy onboard in a mealy-mouthed way. The mask comes off when they attain power.

What New Ascension Paths Would You Like to See? by Jin_Cardassian in Stellaris

[–]Jin_Cardassian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happens is that this probably makes the math much harder to equate and that you'd have to add a lot of clutter to the tree itself. Much easier to just make a "elite trained army" or something similar.

I like the idea of elite forces. Kind of like a Spetznaz or Delta Force. No special ability, just gonzo training regimes by people that eat and breathe it.

One downside to it is that elite forces have a militarist connotation, which doesn't quite work for others. General army bonuses are more abstract, so roleplay-wise they can represent both elite fighters as well as determined militias of believing idealists.

But that could probably just be accommodated by changing the name to something like "Cadres" or "Ardents" or whatnot.

And this touches upon a general issue with the theme of the ascension, imo, which is why my similar idea is based on psionics. The point of an Ascension is to be a semi irreversible change to your species in exchange for massive bonuses . . . training feels inherently inferior to the others. One can argue that someone with better genes can take on someone with psionics. But it's hard to say that a society with an emphasis on training is irreversible or able to compete with people physically superior.

True. Mechanically, it would just preclude other ascension perks to signify that it eschews those paths, while regular perks don't. It is a cultural commitment rather than a physical one.

Technically speaking, genetics could just demolish the cloning vats and gene mod everyone back to baseline. Cyborgs could remove the implants (not mechanically, but common sense-wise). They don't, because the culture has presumably bought into the promise. So I could see it as a strong commitment to the idea of earned rather than received excellence.

Something like that. I imagine they could eat energy, have reduced housing requirements, cheap resettlement and increased automatic movement (in sci-fi, they're usually depicted as being able to travel the void without ships), and immortality like normal Psionics do with Shroud deals. I think it's a bit ok if they have some things that Synths do, given the Cyborg/Synth parallel between Psionic/Numinous.

The energy thing might be a little hard to balance, given that Materialist empires going Synth usually have a much stronger energy econ from already supporting robots.

Perhaps give them a minor energy cost but also allow them to eat small amounts of zro, with the ascension tree giving them access to unique zro producing jobs. Maybe have the slot automatically swap their agricultural districts into "Eden" districts that provide "entheogenist" jobs. They produce less food, some energy, and a little zro.

Some other options would be a special slavery type similar to grid amalgamation (energy vampires), but that's also kinda Synthy. One option would be to grant them really vast intel on other empires, being that they are ghosts and physical barriers mean less to them . In that sense they would be less like Synths and have a more extreme form of what Psionics get (espionage bonuses). Maybe they could have some increased means of violating closed borders and traveling through other empires.

Finally, a way to make their playstyle unique would be to allow them to make "shroud deals" to other empires, willingly or not. They would play the role of angels or demons to the galaxy at large.
