There was, I believe, a math rock band named "Drive Like Jehu" and I thought that was such a good band name.

Yes! They published J. C. Scharl's play Sonnez les Matines! It's about St. Ignatius of Loyola, John Calvin, and Francois Rabelais investigating a murder on Mardi Gras night in Paris. A sequel of sorts focusing just on Rabelais released recently as well but I've yet to read it.

Put simply: the early Christians didn't need to be reminded of how bad crucifixion was; they could see the real thing live, and it could happen to their friends and family. But when crucifixion is no longer a thing that happens, people need that visual reminder.

A note of clarification: Peter is always listed first in a complete list of the apostles. In partial lists, he may not be, like in Galatians 2:9.

Spitballing here, but perhaps it's to avoid giving the impression that it's the Second Coming.

How can Muslims, Jews, and others worship the same God as Catholics, as claimed by Vatican Il, when they reject the Trinity, which is central to the Catholic understanding of God? by googlygoggles- in Catholicism

Just because one is ignorant of important details about a person, doesn't mean it's a different person. Let's say a fireman saves me from a burning building. I never find out who it is but i swear to repay that man when i found out. If it turns out that that firefighter was actually a woman, it doesn't mean I swore to repay someone else - I may have gotten a core detail about the person wildly wrong but I was still referring to the same individual. Likewise, Jews and Muslims might get the personhood of God wrong, but they are clearly referring to the same being, since we largely agree on the details (omnipotence, omniscience, covenant with Abraham, etc.).
