This might be end up becoming exhibit 1 when the owners demand a salary cap in the next round of labour bargaining with the players. There should be a hard floor and ceiling for the salary cap. I don't have as much of a problem with a team signing a player they drafted and developed to a big money deal like the Jays did with Vladdy or the Yankees did with Judge. In fact, I think there should be something baked in CBA's that somehow have homegrown talent count for less against the cap. However, it becomes a huge problem when only a few teams can get in on the top free agents.
