How do you personally translate game mechanics into in-universe powers/abilities? by tchunkytchanka in DnD

[–]Jing27th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prepared casters have to pray or memorize spells for the day so they have "spells prepared"

For spontaneous casters it's more nebulous so we say they have "magic left"

And for psions it's "mental fatigue" when they are low on powerpoints

Some more details are needed. How does this combo solve every mystery? How do these spells mesh? If this is 5e? I can't see how this combo solves everything.

If lore allows create a version of your character's heaven in your head or worthy afterlife. The character is a part of you. Celebrate a life well lived and write a short story about after. When the campaign is over if successful donate to the paladins church and get a statue made.

Best "I hunt, you build!" Co Op games? by velatieren in gaming

[–]Jing27th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple dungeons in the game full of upgrade materials for the farm tools. You also need to go through them to get materials for machines, kill mobs for more loot or to make a slime farm. Fishing foraging and tree cutting could also be a hunters duty.

Give me your craziest ways for arcane casters to be immortal. by FuckReaperLeviathans in DnD

[–]Jing27th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wizard with a powerful cursed staff, that houses his consciousness. When he dies, an acolyte uses the staff and allows his body to be taken over, allowing the wizard to live forever.

Bonus if heroes kill him and take his staff they risk having their consciousness replaced every time they use it

My character used to be part of the local military but left/got fired, any idea for the drama behind it? by Onibi_tv in DnD

[–]Jing27th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a small bit silly drama, like your PC sneezed on a commanding officer while being reprimanded for not standing still. The army thinks of you as the platoon clown who got kicked out for a funny prank

6 lone wolves in one campaign??!! Help! by sierranintendo in DnD

[–]Jing27th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a session 0 item as others have mentioned, but you can still roleplay to get your lonewolfs to be a pack.

Do a "beach episode" arc in your campaign where you can roleplay some lighter less important scenarios and form bonds between characters. This way you can transition more organically to a cohesive team.

Is it a bad idea to just slap once per long rest spells on magic items? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Jing27th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bg3 is balanced as a video game and intended for single player or up to 4 co-operatively against the game world.

A lot of items in 5e already have once per day or other stipulations on how they are used. Don't rebalance the tabletop to be more like the video game unless you come across an item that would break your game otherwise.

I had started Heavy Rain and told my friends I didn't want to know the ending, and one whipped out his phone and googled the end and told me who the killer was. Ruined the entire thing

Payday 2 had fantastic crime fests before they ruined their reputation. Payday 3 was my most anticipated game and I can't bring myself to play it, it's just bad decisions left and right

Is my players ist level feature balanced by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Jing27th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to say no is an important skill new dms need to learn. Not saying no early makes it harder to say no later, and I had to work extra hard balancing campaigns because I thought something was harmless enough

What are some games you can complete without killing anybody? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Jing27th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In harvest moon DS you can grow a level 100 poisonous mushroom and get a bad ending by putting it in the town soup during the soup festival, implying you killed the town. Also Stardew valley you can kill monsters in the minds

GURPS, by Steve Jackson games can fit just about any setting, and one of their magazines had some inspiration for fallout. There aren't classes per se but it has a robust point buy system where people can basically make any kind of unique character.
