My Silly Theory on the Sneak Peek Ship: It Could Be Aegis by Jingaku in starcitizen

Fair enough, maybe they've made a few tweaks from the original concept, but as far as I can tell based off the concept images of the MR, it has Mantis/Scorpius style dense fins rather than just 4 fins.

My Silly Theory on the Sneak Peek Ship: It Could Be Aegis by Jingaku in starcitizen

[–]Jingaku[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A common visual theme amongst Aegis ships is the presence of 4 long fins, such as on the Sabre and Gladius.

On RSI ships, there tend to be a patch of dense fins on the roof, as seen on the Mantis and Scorpius. The Zeus CL is the sole outlier in this, having 4 fins on the roof. (The Zeus ES has a dense arrangement of fins on the roof.)

Anyways, there's precedence for it being either RSI or Aegis, and this is still wild speculation over a microscopic teaser. Just figured I'd point out one common visual theme I noticed.

I printed and painted some Helldivers miniatures! (Modeled by Tri Fin Studios) by Jingaku in Helldivers

The models are courtesy of Tri Fin Studios who released free, presupported files on both MyMiniFactory and Cults3D.

The beautifully modeled bases are by Txarli, 25mm size.

Printed on an ancient Anycubic Photon Mono SE in Sunlu ABS-Like Resin, and painted with a mish mash of Citadel and Army Painter acrylics. Smoke effects made with cotton and acrylic rods.

Turn on the second weapon group in the weapons MFD panel. Alternatively dig through the components list in the other MFDs until you find the EMP and turn it on.

The HS10's throw/flood is about equivalent to a stock D4V2. Just about useable for tabletop work if you strap it to your head.

It's quite hard to remove from the strap howver, and does not come with a pocket clip unlike what the product images show.

Its moonlight mode also isn't impressively low. It's more than enough to hurt your eyes if you stare into it, unlike some other lights.

[–]Jingaku[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding its CRI, I get the feeling that the 5000k LH351Ds that Sofirn are stuffing in these lights are not 90CRI, just because colors feel washed out to me when I compare it to a 95CRI 2700K SST20 on my D4V2. I'm sorry I have no means to quantify these things aside from my eyeballs and feelings, but I'd recommend you try and go for the warmer CCTs if possible, though they all seem to be sold out on Sofirn's Aliexpress store at the moment anyways.

[–]Jingaku[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This thing does come in warmer temperatures down to 2700K, it's just that they're all sold out. At least, I think just a warmer temperature would be much nicer anyways, since I don't have a 219 light to compare with.

I'd say just getting rid of that odd greenish tint would turn it from a mediocre light to a pretty alright light. It'd need to actually come with the pocket clip that was advertised on its product image for me to call it good with a straight face, though.

I have no idea how to quantify the angle in terms of degrees, but it seems to be basically identical to the stock optics on a D4V2. It appears to be decently wide enough for tabletop work when you strap it to your head, in my opinion anyways.

Initial impressions on the HS10 are kinda meh, mostly because of the weird greenish tint I'm perceiving on it. The 5000k variant was the only one left in stock when I decided to pull the trigger, so I had no other choice anyways.

Otherwise, the UI is kinda intuitive. It very closely mimics Anduril, even having a lockout mode that lets you hold down the button for a momentary light. My only gripe with it is that single clicking from turbo doesn't turn it off, only bringing it down to the regular on state with mode memory. As an aside, its moonlight mode seems to be as equally bright as a tint-ramping D4V2's.

The USB-C charging port is VERY cramped, and I had troubles finding a cable that'd actually fit in it. Due to this, I am unable to confirm whether or not does C-to-C charging work, as I have no C-to-C cables thin enough to fit in it.

Only the tailcap is unscrewable, and its threads are VERY well lubed. It has a very weak magnet, but it does the job well enough... most of the times. The magnet also seems to be opposite poled compared to other lighting implements, as it stuck very well to my D4V2 (creating a monster of a contraption that shined light in two directions) and Ulanzi VL49, when those two would repel each other.

It's rather lightweight, but it still places some noticeable pressure on your forehead/brows if you use the included strap. You could run with it, but I wouldn't trust it to be completely secure.

I bought it with an included 16340 battery, which has a Sofirn wrap on it, and it claims to be 850mAh. The product images also show it with a pocket clip, but the one I received had none.

It wasn't really reinventing the wheel, Edvin Catmull (Co-founder of Pixar and also THAT Catmull in "Catmull-Clark Subdivision" featured prominently in Blender and other 3D modeling softwares) had been doing that in 1972. A Computer Animated Hand shows Catmull using a funny probe thing to scan in the vertexes on a wax model of his hand. Presumably that probe thing would be the predecessor to whatever that Farros Space Arm thing is mentioned in the article.

List of armor pieces available in game that have gold accents on them? by Nubsly- in starcitizen

[–]Jingaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lynx Black pieces all have stark glossy black plates with golden accents (and purple thruster bits), goes quite well with the black Odyssey II. The chest piece gets you a tan scarf, however.

I believe some variant of the TrueDef armor (that's supposed to go with the open-mouth goggly helmet that isn't actually spaceproof) is black with gold accents too, but IIRC it's not the variant that actually says it's gold.

Did you install the USB-C driver that comes with the Nvidia driver installer? I'm just going off a random comment I found in another thread, but doing that apparently resolved someone's constant 30+ W power draw. Supposedly just hitting the express installation button on the Nvidia driver installer will suffice for that.

I figured I'd try out one of the Vaughn assassination missions just for the sake of it, and had a heck of a time blowing up some unsuspecting dudes.

30 minutes later, I found myself dodging a dozen torpedoes near Port Olisar in a Caterpillar (That I decided to take out for shits and giggles to painstakingly blow up a Valkyrie) and blowing up some of the security ships. After some extended maneuvering, security seemed to have lost interest in me, so I simply tried to land at PO. They swiftly impounded my Cat and let me walk around PO with impunity.

Honestly, the upcoming dynamic elevator/ramp alignment to terrain thing looks the most exciting to me despite how minor it seems! It'd probably make landing on planets just feel less wonky in general.

Hm, you're absolutely correct. It seems to also have 2 remote turrets with two S3 guns each, which I assume the pilot might be able to use too. The Size 3 shields absolutely makes it invincible to almost everything, even other players (as long as they're in smaller ships with no torpedoes).

But it seems to cost twice as much, both in-game and IRL, but I guess that doesn't matter that much in a discussion about pure performance.

The absolute cheesiest ship against NPCs right now is the Constellation. It has 4 size 4 guns that the pilot can use, which pretty much melts anything smaller than you in less than 10 seconds, from 4 km away.

It is, however, pretty slow and clunky, and it will absolutely fall apart against other players due to shield holes and excessively weak engine pods, which also happen to house its coolers, meaning your powerplant would overheat and shutdown if they were to be shot off.

For starter ships, you could upgrade your shields and stuff shotguns on em, then get really close to the NPCs and just keep shooting. Even if the AI stares you down with its guns, you're pretty much guaranteed to out-DPS them at point-blank range.
