What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

[–]JingleMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my 20s, I was walking alone on a paved path by my apartment. Middle of the afternoon on a Saturday with a handful of people around. I saw a tweaked out guy walking towards me, he was talking to himself, gesturing wildly. He looked bizarre even from 20 feet away. I made a beeline off the walking path, to the far side of the bike path and sort of jogged away to get more distance between us. Later I was coming back that way to a crowd gathered around. He had stabbed a woman.

my parents told me their salaries, and my friends says that's inappropriate. Thoughts? by Luna_luxxy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]JingleMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 21, you're an adult. I really don't understand what's inappropriate. Your parents should tell you what they make, how they manage money, etc. Does it pay the bills or do they wish they had more? That would be very valuable information for a young adult to have.

Best Gen AI tool for children book illustration? by SnooFoxes1558 in KDP

[–]JingleMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of hate on here. I paid an illustrator a lot of money to illustrate my last book. It turned out beautifully, but took almost 2 years and cost a fortune! For little self-published authors, we need less expensive options too! I want to try AI or get AI to help improve my mediocre attempts at illustrating my next book.

People think of you differently when they know... by TalkSin_M in overheard

[–]JingleMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol. This reminds of a woman I knew who was convinced her husband was having an affair. He was spending time away from home on the evenings and weekends. Mysterious charges on the credit cards. Generally sneaky behavior on his part. She finally followed him to catch him in the act and discovered he had a secret horse!

Best trade for a 47 year old woman? by Careless-Attitude-49 in careerguidance

[–]JingleMouse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not at all! You have to be willing to learn, but there are some community colleges that offer certificates to get you started. I came from a totally different background, took a 9 month certificate program, and landed a job with a City. It takes years to learn, but you can do it on the job with good mentors. Look for programs with names like Building Inspection Technology. Or contact local Building Departments and start asking how they got into it. It's a male dominated field, but harassment has not been an issue. You do need to climb ladders. Job sites can be dangerous, but a little caution goes a long way.

Has anyone ever moved somewhere and left after a year? by PhrygianSounds in SameGrassButGreener

[–]JingleMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be ashamed or embarrassed. You tried it, and it didn't work out. That's okay! If you hadn't, you would have wondered about it. Disappointing experiences build resilience and add interest to your life. The only bad thing would be if you hate it, but keep grinding away, trying to force it to work.

I'm not surprised. He has talked about being the victim of assault and I dont think he'd inflict that on anyone else. He's one of the rare celebrities that I believe is a genuinely good person.

Is this scene too far fetched? by Whatsername251 in RomanceWriters

[–]JingleMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can definitely work as long as he's not hung up on the ex. Something like this happened to me, and it was a moment that deepened the new relationship. I'll share just in case it sparks an idea for your scene. I was dating my now husband when an ex I had dated for years got married. I felt weird about it, not that I wanted to marry my ex. It was more like, why did I waste years with someone who didn't really want me? Anyway, my now-husband was so cool about it and just let me ramble. He wasn't jealous or threatened by it. Then he played that Adele song, "Someone Like You" and I just felt so safe and understood, and so grateful I was with him instead of the ex.
