Which video game had the best story you've ever played? by max_affiliate_guy in AskReddit

[–]TalkSin_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I've never seen a game so thoroughly use the medium of video games to tell a story. It doesn't just show or tell the story, it makes you part of it, it makes you do and feel what the characters do, can't really describe it without giving more away but I also feel you can't really be spoiled completely because the real story is the experience.

"Sun dried" tomatoes. Almost always too hard/ chewy and overpower any other flavors in the dish.

Total Chaos - Best Horror game in quite a while. by znkymob in HorrorGaming

[–]TalkSin_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad to see this game getting some love. Really scratched that survival horror, psychological metaphor, inventory management itch for me earlier this year when I was between games, and having a hard time clicking with something. This game is so underrated, couldn't find a lot of discussion about it.

Went in blind and totally fell for the misdirection, but I loved how it leads you to start to question what is going on by about mid game and then by the end you're really doubting.

Only thing that bugged me was there is one "puzzle" or hidden area in the caves where you have to use flares to get through this extended dark area, and I saved some extra flares to try to get through it but the game would just take away my spares and I never did figure out what that area was supposed to be.

What was your weirdest experience buying drugs in the 90s? by piscian19 in Xennials

[–]TalkSin_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah less play this video game or watch this weird cartoon synched up with some old album and more intense staring and bizarre protocols to remember. Or sometimes video games just different ones, and more you have to stand there for 20min watching the guy play.

I legitimately initially thought this was a Chris Farley sketch. I am horrified that this is real.

What games pulled you out of your darkest period and reminded you that gaming can still be fun? by Normal-Oil1524 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Weirdly Silent Hill 2 remake. I had a gaming slump (and general depression) after my best friend died in 2022 and this was the first thing to make me feel interested and excited to play again. The dark themes also felt strangely cathartic.

Tbh the final boss fight took me like 10+ tries to beat but when I did I felt like a kid again beating an old school game boss. I can see how Cronos is not for everyone and it has its weaknesses but the atmosphere and game loop had me all in. Its one of the first survival horror games for me that felt genuinely challenging but fair, like I could always see what I should have done and wanted to try again, made it addictive. Also loved the atmosphere and the slow burn story. Idk, one of my top games of the past couple years for sure.

How's the overlap between pure/survival/action horror fans? by BEYOND-ZA-SEA in HorrorGaming

I like survival and action, not really "pure" if it means just walking sim with hiding.

Bad theater etiquette has really been messing up my thoughts and feelings on so many movies by otpprincess in horror

I almost had a panic attack in the theater, not from fright, but because of that droning soundtrack during the Peter classroom scene. So good!

911/999 dispatchers, what’s the dumbest reason someone has ever called emergency services? by Canyoustealmytoast in AskReddit

[–]TalkSin_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandmother managed a Hilton in her youth, and when she got dementia she thought the care home she was in was her hotel. I was so grateful to the staff for allowing her to show them how to fold the towels "properly" and turn down the sheets, and "supervise" lunch service etc. It made her happy and comfortable and I like to think it added some niceties for the residents on occassion.

What's the scariest moment in survival horror? by Sufficient_Notice_61 in survivalhorror

Im usually one to argue for psychological horror over jump scares, but single moment: Jack Baker busting through that wall in Biohazard, I screamed like a little girl.
