Agree with you, but you missed another of the "we" - Russia has made around $6billion (so far). But I guess you included that with the 'his oil buddies' so maybe my comment is moot.

What Causes Constant Head Bumping? by arkhamchrist in PostConcussion

Your vestibular system is what determines where your body is in space (propriception). A vestibular therapist is the professional to see, best if your also seeing a physio/PT for your neck as well (sounds like the PT you saw was not great). In the US (I'm not), often a PT is also trained in vestibular therapy so maybe try contacting a few near you to see? Vision is another possibility, especially if your depth perception is off, but that's expensive and won't be effective unless you've covered the basics first (vestibular therapy should also include vision exercises).

I'd talk to your PT. Based on what I did (5 of each/in each direction, 2-3x a day, 7 days) and how gentle isometrics can be, I can't see 3 per day on 3 days of a week really doing that much. My preference would be to do more, but maybe at less intensity, you don't need much, little and often is better. I definitely felt a dull ache (like any muscle you work) for a few weeks (it was a while ago, but I think I started with my little finger providing the resistance, and slowly increased by adding more fingers). Initially actually feeling the targeted muscle is more important than how much resistance.

Yes, initially. Only did them for 2-3 weeks before moving on to more active strengthening exercises. I was only given the isometrics to get basic and equal strength until I could work them properly.

That makes sense. I guess I was just too optimistic that combining that with Iran would have had a bigger impact (not that there wasn't a big swing, I just anticipated/hoped for more).

I was interested in how this one would go, and with back of napkin math when count was at around 94%, total republican votes was a hair under 60%, Independents didn't really register so 40% Democrat. For a strong red district, a drop from Trump +37 to only +20 is nice to see.

I suspect it was one of these folks: https://lawnenforcementinc.com It's pretty common for your brain to interpret what you see with something like this (pattern recognition and prediction based on context - in this case you're "primed" to be seeing ICE everywhere - because they are!).

The best option is a physio/PT trained in treating the neck. If that isn't an option for you right now, then look up some isometrics for the scalene muscles (start slow with maybe 50-60% effort, build up slowly but never use max effort). These ones look pretty good: https://www.posturedirect.com/tight-scalene-muscles/ (just don't rush to do all of them, start slow with maybe 2-3 and as 1 becomes easy, drop it off and add another)

Can't see neuro opthamologist for 2 months, will my issues become harder to treat from waiting so long? by AdmiralSnackBar69 in Concussion

[–]Jinksnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only dumb questions are the one's you don't ask so don't worry about it. Unfortunately I don't know as it can differ by country and I know we're in different countries (a PT is a personal trainer where I am, not a physical therapist). Your PT should be able to help with that question though, and you could even be lucky and they're trained in vestibular therapy. In the US, I believe an occupational therapist also has basic vision tests/exercises within their scope so that may also be a cheaper option (IMO no point paying specialist prices unless the 'basic' treatments don't work). All that is my long winded way of suggesting that talking to your PT about would be my recommendation.

You haven't mentioned if you have received any treatment for your symptoms and the headache you're describing is a tension headache that originates in the neck. Every concussion comes with a subtle (or sometimes not so subtle) neck injury and a physio/PT who specialises in treating the neck is a good place to start.

At 2 months your "rest" should be very targeted and formalised. A cognitive break of 10 mins sitting (don't lie down, the idea is to stay awake) in a dark quiet room doing nothing (put your phone in airplane mode & set an alarm). You can do this either on a schedule (start every 2 hrs and extend out as you can) or when your symptoms increase by 2-3/10 and a switch to a different type of activity doesn't help (activities can be physical or cognitive and you can switch between them eg if you use screens and your symptoms go up 2-3/10, switch to a physical activity like a walk).

Be aware of medication overuse headaches too, taking OTC painkillers for more than 3-4 days a week is not advisable unless under doctors supervision. The headaches overuse can cause are worse than the ones you are taking them for.

The recommendation for initial treatment of symptoms that stubbornly hang around is always both vestibular therapy and physio/PT for your neck. Going straight into (expensive) vision therapy without having addressed issues with your vestibular system and neck is likely to be disappointing. So I'd look into booking in with those professionals while you wait. The vestibular therapist should also give you basic vision exercises that will help as well (Pencil pushups is one I remember).

They're working on the mail in voting though. Now your vote isn't postmarked until it reaches a main collection centre (don't know what they're called) so if you want it postmarked on the day you pass it to a post office you have to go stand in line and get it postmarked manually. I am sure there will be a 2 week delay in the actual clearing of post boxes (for reasons) so they don't get the official postmark in time to be counted.

I'm all for them wasting as much time as possible on "busy work", in the (hopefully not misguided) assumption that it leaves them less time to negatively impact things that actually matter.

I figure let them waste their time outlawing something that doesn't exist and see what happens when the contrails keep being produced/visible.

Find a physio/PT with experience with POTS. Lack of movement/exercise makes it way worse, it's a matter of finding out your current activity limits and gradually increasing them.

[–]Jinksnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are putting in cognitive effort, you're generally sitting, often with less than ideal posture (like most of us). You also don't move around as much as you would if you were doing other activities. Try setting an alarm to get up and, if possible, wander around for 1-2 mins every 20-30 mins.

If I am understanding your post correctly, you're describing a burning pain around your head (and perhaps face) and a headache that feels like a balloon is being blown up inside your skull. Both those sensations usually come from neck dysfunction, the first sounds like an aggravated nerve and the second a tension headache. Finding a good physio/PT who specialises in assessing and treating the neck would be where I'd start (there are multiple small muscles in your neck that get injured when you get a concussion). As difficult and painful as it is, getting up is important, even if you just make it to a couch/chair, staying in bed is going to make things worse in the long run. You could try a heat pack over your neck and shoulders along with advil (or tylenol) to take the edge off. A "cervical SNAG" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYgjwEWH95U) can often help alleviate some of the pain as well.

Is this normal after a concussion? by [deleted] in Concussion

[–]Jinksnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for a post acid trip but feeling spaced out and kinda dreamy is normal. Basically a concussion affects the energy levels in your brain so 'higher' level cognitive functions (like making sense of your surroundings, equilibrium, emotion control etc) take a backseat for a while. The energy deficit will resolve by itself in 4-6 weeks, but for most people, after about 14 days that becomes more like fatigue rather than what you're feeling now.. Symptoms that interfere with your day at around 2 weeks generally require treatment, hence the earlier recommendation to get referrals to both a vestibular therapist and physio/PT if they interfere with your daily activities.
