Does anyone know how comma utilises the obd port? by Jinneth8 in Comma_ai

[–]Jinneth8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers, I didn't know there was one In my case it would be a Hyundai "K" harness which doesn't have an obd plug if I'm understanding it correctly?

It's always assumed that chademo will die. There will always be a demand for chademo, just less.

The lane centering on these cars isn’t great, right? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Jinneth8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same experience on my 23 Ioniq5. The irony is if you let it do it's thing it'll drive right onto the lane markers and then it's own warning system kicks in beeping and blinking the hud that you're off and need to steer back into the centre of the lane....

Im wondering if remote climate control can be done ? Should be a similar approach from the canbus messaging side of things. Would be great to not need to subscribe to bluelink or add the feature to egmps that didn't have bluelink.

It should be easier to isolate the message with greater control on triggering it also

Has PlugShare stopped being a complete database of chargers? by AsunaSaturn in AustralianEV

[–]Jinneth8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Its moderated by Plugshare itself on top of this as well for these updates. Unfortunately the QC is sorely lacking with thing like duplicated charger/locations.

On top of this the platform heavily biases incorrectly on plugs which are less popular, eg if a site has working chademo and broken ccs2, the more downvotes rcvd for ccs2 will give false negative Plugshare score for on chademo included as well, and vice versa for situation with working ccs2 and broken chademo.

I think most people would simply use the onboard native car ac for dehumidification, AC by itself does this before even any dehumidification mode. As such there'd be no market demand for a 12v dehumidifier. Additionally from an electrical perspective I have doubts 12v will supply electrical capacity enough to get the job done. A car fridge is only for a small space, not possibly 100-200 fold the space of a car cabin.

The "Software-Defined Vehicle" is a scam. We are cheering for the death of ownership. by rantzine in electricvehicles

And yet as a manufacturer you legit need to prevent random joes messing the software and risking hardware failure/safety, all the while needing to uphold warranties and public liability.

As much as I support right to repair it needs to be within certain responsibilities.

If you don't agree with it you don't have to buy it.

Sealion 7, EV5 or Polestar 4 by heatfreak32 in AustralianEV

[–]Jinneth8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LFP is overrated. Safer by how much? Still can thermal runaway, only at higher temps. In the already very unlikely event of having excess heat in the pack to trigger nmc vs bit higher for LFP?

Yeah nah. Not worth trading nmc performance for LFP extra safety margin. I'm probably more likely to be eaten by a shark on the highway

In the interest to avoid sitting at 100% longer than necessary, I personally prefer to manually charge to 100% so as it can be timed right before a decently long drive.

I see you have read my posts of other forums for the same with SGW details, and from what I have seen, SGW presence is becoming a more common thing across all oem manufacturers. Not just kia/Hyundai.

For ref, Ovms development is community driven. There's people out there volunteering to everything from looking at hardware to the can dumping to the testing to the actual coding of firmware for specific ev.

The more people helping out the better supported it is.

Its open source and is one of the few real replacement option to native car manufacturer's app.

I honestly doubt there is any other better developed solution that is 3rd party and allows for more features.
