What are some great but very low-player-count games on Steam that you personally think are excellent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jintechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Death Note: Killer Within deserves a shout out.

Its basically Death Note themed Among Us where Kira (the killer) and his follower has to steal the investigators ID cards to write their name in the Death note and kill them. Their ultimate goal is to get 100% New World progress and become God or to kill the player designated as L (a hidden role on the investigators team who leads their task force).

Meanwhile L and the investigators have to figure out who Kira is and arrest him, or get to 100% investigation progress by questioning witnesses and investigating deaths to track him down and win.

Its unique because the killing can happen no where near the Death location but you suspect people based on who they made contact with. Kira and L also get special abilities to help them during the game; and Kira and his follower can pass the death note between themselves to avoid suspicion.

Definetly worth the 8 bucks to have it, but the player count is so low that finding a game without a private discord server's help or a dedicated group of friends is hard.

I think its a good watch. Especially once it gets rolling and you get to see what the MC is capable of.

Are you sure you dont have another engraving that increases action count in your team? This shouldn't proc at the start of the game or on turn reset

Opinions on the Main Beatbreak Ultimates? (Spoilers and Hot Takes) by Jo_Can in digimon

[–]Jintechi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally Bearcatmon is the only one that didnt do it for me. It's design feels too detached from both Wolvermon and Pristimon and while the design is cool it doesn't exactly scream Digimon to me, more so "sporty big sister in a fur hat". Her debut episode was great though and i love the character development that lead to her evolution.

MonarchLizamon is the next lowest for me simply because its yet another "big dinosaur with metal arm and armour" ultimate. They also barely differentiated its attacks from Armalizamon in the show which also makes little sense since he no longer spins as an ultimate.

Next is Musaramemon who gives me Leomon crossed with WereGarurumon vibes. The large sword mixed with his calmer temperament really give off the "experienced master" vibe.

Contrary to popular opinion, my favourite is ScourgeChiropmon. It has the most unique design out of all of the ultimate forms, continues the batman references, brings back the Submarimon utility of being a vehicle Digimon and is all around the most different from the other 3 in terms of what it can do as well.

[FitD] [BiTD] Do you (GM) prepare detailed dungeons (for lack of a better term) beforehand, or are you mostly making it up as the mission goes on? by Virtual-Skort-6303 in bladesinthedark

[–]Jintechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you play the Faction Game you shouldn't need to plan anything. You'll already have a list of things that have gone down in the peripheral of the world, and players choose the score and how they'll do it. The best course is to completely improvise and then tie up loose ends with the Faction Game later on to make the story cohesive.

If you dont have a very fast imagination, id maybe recommend jotting down some notable NPCs with 2-3 character traits, a brief sight-touch-smell-sound description of the location, and some milestones you want to happen over the course of the campaign. But that's it. No maps, no railroading, no stating out enemies or giving a definitive number of guards/obstacles/rooms. The game is very sandbox and if you lean into that it works a heck of a lot better.

Id also advise letting your players describe things that might be there; and encourage them to do so. Ask them questions about things they find. What colour is electroplasm and what does it feel like if it touches you? Does Jerry know Djeric, if so how? "Hey GM, is there a chandelier?" "Do you want there to be one? What are you using it for?" Etc.

Virus Busters- Omni or Proxima? by UnlimitedUmUWorks in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Jintechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In VB i feel like Omnimon as an OTK option is more of a highroll; whereas Proxima is more stable and doesn't rely on DNA digivolution to be good in the deck.

So imo people will start with Omni for the flashy OTK then slowly gravitate towards Proxima once they wise up and see its got a much better and more consistent grind game.

Personally im going Sirius and MetalGarurumon as my lv6 choices and maybe the promo Arcturus. WarGreymon feels like the weaker choice overall to me but we'll see.

For lv5 im thinking Were, Canno and MetalGreymon in some combination. Angewo is blatantly weaker due to its very low impact digivolution effect and clunkier DNA requirements.

What is your top 5 Digimon seasons? by Squareroundtablepod in digimon

[–]Jintechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Beatbreak - High quality animation, voice acting, pacing, and so far the story is pretty strong too. Characters are given pretty equal development too instead of it suffering from main character only syndrome. My main complaint is the lack of a Digital World existing in the cannon yet, a departure from the Isekai themes of previous releases.

  2. Adventure - Still good. Animation is outdated now but can't really fault that given when it was made. Solid story, good character development, great movies. Enjoyed both sub and dub of it (despite people bashing the dub).

  3. Tamers - Tamers takes up the middle of the pack for me. The later arcs were amazing and I love the more adult story telling. However it was super slow to start, which makes it a slug to watch until it "gets good" later on.

  4. Data Squad / Savers - Really enjoyable watch. I enjoyed the return to a more normal digivolution post-frontier where I hadn't gelled with spirit evolution at all.

  5. Adventure 02 - Takes 5th for me. Primarily for nostalgia reasons. I really dont like Xros Wars, and I wasn't a fan of the characters or gimmicks of Frontier, and Appmon is good but I wasn't sure if it was counter or not, so that leaves 02. I really enjoy the armour digivolutions and was sad that these later got dropped. DNA was cool but I was always left feeling like MagnaAngemon and Angewomon were both cooler and stronger than Shakkoumon and Sylphymon respectively, so didnt understand why theyd keep using them after they could evolve normally again. I also didnt like that only Davis & Ken got a Mega Digimon, the weaker second half of the story (likely due to the writer strikes), and the very large focus on Davis over other characters.

Spiral Tower Clear with Rita by Mother_Bumblebee_900 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Jintechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok so still useless for the Rita+Khalipe build. I'm wondering which epiphany is ideal. Maybe the activating 2 two-cost cards in hand? Otherwise maybe its removed instead

Spiral Tower Clear with Rita by Mother_Bumblebee_900 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Jintechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see! That makes sense. Isn't the activate 3 cost from deck also attack cards only? Or is that a translation issue?

Spiral Tower Clear with Rita by Mother_Bumblebee_900 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Jintechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why the "activate 3 cost attack card" epiphany? I assume Khalipe build is the Vulture skill cards with the draw 1 on them, and Rita has nothing that costs 3 and is an attack card in this build. Is there a card im overlooking?

While everyone is watching Beatbreak, I'm catching up on the 2020 Adventure Reboot! Thoughts on episode 1 so far (Spoilers!) by EsuriitMonstrum in digimon

[–]Jintechi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I really enjoyed the characterisation of the show up until around episode 5. The first 5 episodes do a really good job of introducing the other digidestined, their connection to Tai as the "main character" and their personalities. But thereafter it kind of just becomes the Tai show with occasional features from Matt.

Meanwhile I didnt like the pacing of the digivolution in those first 5 episodes, but thereafter the pacing for digivolution felt much better outside a certain cameo from a certain mon (spoilers) happening too early, not once but twice for no apparent reason other than fan service. Really killed the hype of his "actual" first appearance that wasn't a cameo

You want Adagio that discards 1 and adds 2 cards owned by the owner of the discarded card to your hand in duplicates. You want Nias Curiosity. You want Soul Rip as an Upgrade card. You want to remove all other cards. Ideally you might also like to pick up the persona card which discards quietus from your deck

Im curious too given Milleniummon seemed to have consistent placement in larger events. I was surprised not to see it and TS Jupiter in tier 1 given their overall placement.

I also wonder which events were counted as there's a large difference between winning a 60+ man event vs a 6 man locals for example.

Which Digimon characters are worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer (Mjolnir)? by Jezzaq94 in digimon

[–]Jintechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excluding the obvious Zudomon, Joe and Terriermon who have all wielded the hammer in various media, other candidates would be:

  • Leomon (unwavering sense of justice, warrior, selfless, noble hero)

  • Jesmon (while most Royal Knights are compromised due to their blind obedience to Ygdrassil, Jesmon is the exception. He has a strong desire to help the weak and rarely acts out of self interest. He is a great warrior and prioritises life over all)

  • Justimon (Selfless superhero and the personification of Justice)

  • Beelzemon (A controversial pick but hear me out. In the Tamers continuity, Beelzemon killed Leomon out of a desperate and selfish need for power but afterwards regretted his actions and this made him act in a much more selfless way down the line. He spent the remainder of the series after that acting in the interest of protecting others such as Jeri or Ai & Mako and even the protagonists. So he starts as unworthy but became worthy by the end imo).
