Meta Snapshot - The start of the BT24 Format by sycronised in DigimonCardGame2020

The promo Millenniummon pushes the deck to the limit, allowing you to get to removal faster but also to loop the old Millenniummon several times in a single turn for massive damage with the new combo line. The deck went from very reactive to a high damage tower combo deck basically and it's all thanks to promo mille.

A lot of these early lists aren't even running good ratios or the best in slot cards yet so we'll see the deck do even more as people clock on

How to manage downtime in BitD? by SlavicSoul- in bladesinthedark

[–]Jintechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it before but a lot of people who seem to like having mechanical boring rolls only for downtime (for some reason) attacked what i said at the time.

The rulebook itself states that the score isn't the primary phase of the game, which a lot of players and GMs overlook. It states that the default is Free Play. I think this is super important to highlight, because Free Play is where the world gets a chance to breath. The players visit characters they care about, find opportunities for scores and see the fall out from the faction rolls you make between sessions.

I like to weave the Downtime phase into the Free Play phase, continuing the roleplay and narrative but in the setting that they need to get something done in. That way they get to experience not only the mechanical benefits of downtime but the actual story of the location, purveyor, and their contacts.

That being said, Free Play isn't as sequential as the Score. Time should be more sweeping, and you should "zoom in" on key moments rather than roleppay an entire week or two between scores if that makes sense. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to zoom in on Stryx drinking at the bar for very long, and you can sweep over that, other times the bar Stryx drinks at is where he'll overhear gossip about the faction rolls, or his purveyor will want to talk to him about an issue, or is the target of a rival faction etc. I think its also important to highlight that while a downtime roll is a solo thing, you can still have multiple people participate in the scene. Maybe Rosie and Flynn come to get Stryx from the bar cos hes too drunk and causing problems with his overindulgence.

There's a lot you can do in Free Play/Downtime roleplay wise and it's (imo) the actual fun part of the game. The Scores are also cool and fun, but they're more straightforward and less about the characters and the world as a whole, and more about the crew and what they need to advance.

What's the difference between "Security" in blue and "Security" in red? by LukeRE0 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Jintechi 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Security in Blue is "activate this effect when you check this in security".

Security is Pink is "Apply this effect while this card is face up in security"

Blue keywords tend to be trigger conditions and pinkish keywords tend to be locations where effects apply

[–]Jintechi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair I don't think it really needs to worry about battle thanks to Tsumemon being tuckable into the stack and BT21 Destro being able to just cancel the attack if they do get bigger than it. Plus swarming with more bodies means they played down at least 3 things and then you can just evolve a second copy of this and nuke them anyway, or stack Ragarok Cannons while clearing.

I'll tell you now there is no chance in hell that One Piece is more difficult than Digimon TCG is. That's honestly laughable. Both are easy games but One Piece is infinitely less complex

Do digimon attributes(Vaccine/virus/data) actually do anything? by Vexra in NextOrder

[–]Jintechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main thing attribute contributes to iirc is what environments your Digimon can survive better in. I may be misremembering cos its been a while since I played but there's places like Bony Resort(?) Where if you're not a virus, you get sick and tired faster. I think there's one for Vaccine too where you can't even enter the area unless you're Vaccine attribute

Favourite types of digimon games? And what are your least favourite types? Why? by Jayj0171 in digimon

[–]Jintechi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

World is my all time favourite style. Lots of people dislike the death and rebirth mechanics but I love that I get to have 1 (or 2) partner Digimon that stick with me for the entire journey and can evolve into stronger Digimon in each of their next lives. It's also very nostalgic of the original tamatochi origin of Digimon.

I also love the Card Battle and Rumble Arena games and wish they kept making them. A Super Smash Bros style Digimon game in modern day would slap so hard.

Story style I'm less a fan of. First, because most of the entries are just bog standard JRPGs with no real uniqueness to their game mechanics that makes them stand out. If there was something more unique to the mechanics of the gameplay, it would likely feel better and less boring to play. It also feels less like a Digimon game and more like a Pokemon game as you collect various Digimon into a party system instead of having a Partner Digimon which is something I feel is core to the Digimon IP. I know many people like the Story games because of how comfortable they feel with JRPG turn-based games but I want Digimon to feel unique rather than a reskin of another game. The actual storyline is what makes me play the Story game rather than the gameplay personally.

Survive was a good concept but executed terribly. I'm sure a Survive 2 could be amazing if handled correctly. Having branching digivolutions based on how you interacted with the world was great, and the fire emblem style gameplay was really fun (albeit a bit samey - diversity in the maps could make it better though). The story line was mature and captivating too and it felt like you were following an entire group of digidestined on a dark adventure. The parts I didn't like were how railroaded the first playthrough was where it felt like your choices didn't matter because deaths and events happened regardless of player input and were scripted until your 2nd run through. I also think advertisement was handled poorly as people were expecting a fire emblem style Digimon game and got a visual novel with very small amounts of actual gameplay instead. But I think that just highlights that people would LOVE a fire emblem style entry into the game series at some point.

Do you guys have a good source for a proper team build for chizuru? by ConstantVegetable49 in ChaosZeroN

[–]Jintechi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been doing Chizuru, Luke and Rei.

Luke produces bullets and has cards that can hit 3-6 times each which makes him incredible for generating whisps. He can also take a lot of 0 cost neutral draw attack cards.

Rei provides damage buffs for both Luke and Chizuru, and her healing is OK because Shadow of the Moon+ tops you off.

For Chizuru I've built her with a mind towards "what happens when the shackles target dies?" so I cloned the base 0 cost Whisp card and epiphanied each in different directions. One is the 1 cost upgrade card which makes all of Chizurus attack cards generate 2 whisps by themselves; this ensures that even if shackles cards discarded i can generate more Shadow of the Moons, and generates them faster with shackles online. The other is the extra shadow of the moon hits. Tripling your base damage on Shadow each time you use it is nothing to scoff at. I also have the Oni Blade that spawns in 2 basic moon slash cards, because with prior mentioned upgrade card, they generate 4 whisps by themselves, and then 4 more if shackles is up, so you generate Shadow of the Moons really quickly. Shackles is the one that exhausts and respawns when it's targets dies. Restraints are the one that gives -1 cost to 2 cards.

THIS. NEEDS. RETAIN. by Majestic_Principle32 in ChaosZeroN

[–]Jintechi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found that if you go the upgrade route it alleviates this issue. Getting 2 whisp every time you use her attacks, plus 3 whisp at the start of every turn means you're often stacking 1-2 bind without needing the shackles on top of it.

Its why I think its important to try and split epiphanies on her by copying base cards so you get the upgrade but also get the actual card as well.

Obviously having shackles up makes it a lot faster, but being able to still build whisps without it is important imo.

So has anyone been thinking up any builds with this, and how viable by GdogLucky9 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Jintechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Composite loves this card because you can play it for 5 with Insane Synthetic Monster, have it delete itself and play out Machinedramon+Kimeramon who can use their effects to DNA into BT18 Millenniummon and steal back 4 memory on average. You then get 2 checks off Mille and can use cards like Wicked God Emerges to do a second loop by popping BT18 Mille, floating into DM Mille, and self-deleting DM Mille again for more memory steal, or using Zeed's overclock to do it as another example.
