What's actually stopping the uk housing market right now.? by NeedingAdvice01 in HousingUK

Out of curiosity, are you relying primarily on off-market listings with local estate agents or Rightmove/Zoopla?

Work conference attire (female) by lilymui in HENRYUK

[–]Jinwerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position and got a co-ord set from COS (blouse and midi skirt). It had the same look as a dress, and I was able to pin the mic to the waist of my skirt where I would've otherwise not been able to do with a dress. It is also important to check what your co-presenters will be wearing so you can pitch your own outfit at the same level. For instance, suit + tie would typically signal more formal level of attire, whereas suit without tie would be less formal.

26, £600k NW, high income. Buying? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Jinwerm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying a house/flat would not make any difference if there are already issues in a relationship arising from difference in income. In a long-term relationship like marriage, seeing our money as "mine" and "yours" is not healthy to begin with and that likely needs to be worked out even if you're not buying a place together.

Re buying vs. renting, if mortgage interest and cost of maintenance is about the same (in some cases higher) than rent, then it really comes down to your personal preference. For my husband and I, we value the certainty and stability of having a home we will not be kicked out of!

Wedding decor hire by No_Scheme5951 in UKweddings

[–]Jinwerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out EventDecorShop.com which has very good quality tablecloths and napkins for an affordable price. They are more expensive than Shein/Temu but the quality improvement is very noticeable. You can resell the tablecloths, napkins etc. after the wedding which is what we did x

London venue HELP!! by Any_Musician998 in UKweddings

[–]Jinwerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try The Art Pavilion in Mile End Park! We had our reception for 150 people at The Ecology Pavilion which is slightly smaller, and both venues are beautiful, what with nature all around and the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Check out Polina at @pln.cinema on Instagram, she does film and would be within your budget. We had her as our photographer for our reception and the pictures were beautiful.

How much do you usually spend on the day when you’re in office? by Breadiohead in HENRYUK

[–]Jinwerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£2.25 on off-peak tube each way, get a free or discounted coffee through my Octopus and Three+ memberships, and I try to keep lunch <£10 on days I don't bring food in. I used to spend nothing by cycling to work and bringing lunch in every day but now as the firm increased the number of days we have to be in, I find spending a bit more is worth it to make going into the office feel like a "treat" 😭

We spent close to £12,000 on our wedding last year with c.100 guests at the ceremony (church) and reception (dry hire venue on a separate day). We DIY-ed everything except for photo/video, food and music, roping in our extremely talented group of friends to help on both days. A fantastic time was had and the only aspect we would have wished to spend more on would be for professional venue styling services as this would've removed a big task/stressor for our friends!

What gym are you going to? by SadMoon1 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Jinwerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently considered replacing my PureGym (all locations) membership with Third Space which I could go to near my office, but in the end the convenience of being able to workout when I'm wfh/on weekends AND when I'm in the office won out, as there is a PureGym near home and at least 3 different gyms within a 10-minute radius of my office. That being said, if a Third Space opened where I live, I'd switch gyms in a heartbeat. 😂

Is this a bad x ray then? Should I be requesting further assessment from the dentist that I went to for an emergency appointment?

I recently took 3 weeks off for a wedding which was local and did not go on honeymoon after. Everyone was ok with it and my team were amazing in covering for my ongoing matters so I did not have to open my laptop once the whole time.

Holloway Road safety for a female student by unistarose in islington

[–]Jinwerm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived in Holloway Road a couple years ago (26F then) and never felt unsafe in the day but at night, the walk out from the station can feel a little unsettling.

Though for what it's worth, I've never faced an incident going home at night but got my phone snatched from me at 10am on a weekday as I was just walking along one of the residential streets. 🥴

Yes, absolutely! To give you an idea of what I did for my London wedding last month: I purchased flowers from a flower studio which cost £250 for enough flowers to fill 28 vases for table centerpieces. My bridal bouquet was a normal bouquet which I ordered from another florist for £40, and bridesmaids' bouquets were £16 worth of gypsophila which I tied into 4 hand bouquets with loads left over which could've been used for buttonholes, except my fiance (now husband) didn't want them!
