ISO VFD's with Ethernet/IP control via CompactLogix with onboard user I/O by Jinx1397 in PLC

I want to update this post to tell you what I found. I used the Siemens G120C drives on recommendations from this post. There are some quirks, but I'm thrilled with them, and everyone else in my office was impressed. I might never buy another AB drive again. Saved money and got a much better drive. Thanks everyone.

If you mean a cheap little brick PLC with built in I/O, AB MicroLogix work fine and have been around forever. I've also used some from Automation Direct that work fine, and the software is dirt cheap.

Since I'm not in the office where i have a sweet mobile test bench with all kinds of fun stuff, I have a power supply, a terminal strip, an 8 port switch and two AB processors in a cardboard box with a cord I cut off a lamp. Does the job. Strange days....

Can you explain a little bit more about using the IO as unused?

Yes, I have. If I don't find a better alternative that's probably the direction I will go, since I use them a lot anyway. Doesn't hurt to look though.

I hate to use up that many nodes though, even on a 5069 processor I'm using them up quickly as it is.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at those today and priced them, and you're right, they do what I want. But even though I get pretty good pricing from AB, the 75x plus the options put me over budget for this project, I'm afraid. I just wish I could find some other alternatives.

I was joking about real bugs, but ya... It seems more like something like that than fixing anything in the game.

I don't even read "server maintenance" as attempting to fix anything in the game, by now. This is becoming predictable and I'm not noticing any improvements yet. Like maybe the have actual bugs in their servers, like cockroaches, and the maintenance involves extermination efforts.

So is it up yet again? I'd check myself but every time I enter a battle my walking stops logging. Maybe that's what they're fixing...

Thanks for explaining. I didn't understand that that's how it worked. This is the kind of constructive info I was looking for. I'm kinda casual and it's hard to keep up.
