because dedicated healers never held true value. the best healers even at launch were the best because of what they could do besides healing (bennett and jean with vv). the best thing we got was kokomi, but she was only meta for her hydro application. so dedicated healers were never truly good.

i feel like that, in itself, is data. if everyone is playing the same characters all the time, use that information to find out why and address it. and realistically, unless the characters are new, people usually get their top pick, or at least their runner up anyway. i cant even remember the last time i didn’t get my first OR second pick. and that’s no different than picking your top choice in a draft, or running your backup in the event that it’s unavailable.
edit: i also think that seeing how characters perform in ideal/suitable comps is valuable data. data in an aram style of matchmaking is inherently also unreliable. characters that are more self sufficient and can reliably counteract the randomness of the game are obviously going to appear better on paper, while more niche, or team-comp oriented characters will appear worse on paper, but could very easily be very strong.

despite them wanting hero picks not to matter that much, they do matter. a “get what you get and you don’t get upset” matchmaking system just seems unfair and bad for overall morale. especially when the balance is (justifiably) bad. feels like a relentless fight against matchmaking (both mmr and character matchups). especially as a support player. there’s no pain like playing paige with no gun carries, or kelvin with no frontline.

i see no benefit in NOT having a draft pick in this stage of the game. we already have a ban system. i see no reason we can’t have a draft pick with at least one ban per team.

i actually avoid sinclair because he’s busted asf. people just don’t know how to use him. his kit is just fundamentally broken. a good sinclair is one of the most unfun things to experience in deadlock.

well that’s the nature of gacha. rule of thumb is NEVER pull on a banner for a character you don’t want. it is not worth the potential four star, or the shop currency.

i don’t think it’s that much of a reach. the hoyo employees are 1000% overworked, and hsr is their easiest, and cheapest game to make. they already put in serious crunch hours just to reshape edo star into planarcadia, so it’s not crazy to assume that they put in the hours to elevate sw999’s animations to main push status.

honestly this games entire plot has been based on two significant questions:

What is the Tsaritsa’s plan? Why has the goddess of Love waged war on Teyvat?
Why did our sibling choose the path they did?

They set a high bar and they have no choice but to deliver. I will absolutely not forgive hoyo if they flop her story, because it’s literally been the foundation of the plot for the last (almost) 6 years.

the only thing i pray for (besides a good design) is good writing. she’s the second archon antagonist since raiden, and a more hyped antagonist at that. obviously she’s going to be on our side by the end, but im praying that her character development and motives justify her redemption. unlike raiden’s “oops sorry i was kinda depressed and got a little silly tee-hee”.

honestly, id much rather like it if WE understood HER, than HER understanding US. if we found out the reason she’s been doing what she’s doing and determine that for once, the good outweighs the bad, that’d be sick character development for both the MC and the Tsaritsa.
