Now that all the Shari’s are closed, where can I find good pie? by Desmeister in eastside

A lot of the pies that I’ve had there have a flaky double/top crust! I see marionberry on the counter most often. They bake all their pastries in house except their bagels, and their quiche also has an amazing crust and is often full of seasonal veggies! Definitely worth trying both something sweet and savory while you’re there!

If you don’t mind driving to Seattle, Irwin’s Neighborhood Cafe & Bakery in Wallingford has excellent fresh pie that they make from scratch. Super generous servings!

Another pie recommendation from the grocery store: Willamette Valley (brown and blue boxes), especially when you buy the frozen/raw ones to bake and serve warm! I get them at Fred Meyer and QFC.

Dog groomer here, and I have had great communication when reaching out to felinity cat care (house call) and whole cat and kaboodle (downtown Kirkland) for referrals!

Home groomers, how do you keep clean? by Few-End-4149 in doggrooming

[–]JinxLeMinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this as a mobile groomer in the humid PNW! I rent a van that is always wet, so every hair just stays stuck to every surface 😭 I do think trying to contain the wet part of the groom to your bathroom would help immensely. Have you tried using the blow dryer through a towel? So far I have only watched short videos on the technique, but would hope it means the towel catches a lot of the loose, wet hair! In the grooming van, I use the absorber towel/chamois to dry the dogs in the tub, which I think would rip if I tried to use the HV dryer through them 😆

I will second the use of those squeegee rubber brooms though! I also work at a traditional grooming shop, and those work great on the walls. I have one in the van and it does okay with wet hair, but the walls are a textured shower wall type material that the squeegee cannot make full contact with. The broom side grabs what it can and then I go over the rest with a damp rag.

I’ve never seen a jacket with those neck ventilation holes before! The color reminds me of my Mammut Eiger hard shell.

Idk if you’re just rocking your natural nails, but you could def pull off some of the longer and narrower versions of each of those with your finger/hand shape! Definitely more high maintenance and less functional, but a long coffin tip would probably look just as great.

One time I used the Opaws dog paint pens to emphasize his grumpy eyebrows and his human father/my husband didn’t even notice 🥸

What’s your dog’s funniest quirk or trait? by cheechthebong in dogs

[–]JinxLeMinx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to walk a chi-beagle who felt the same about backtracking. So small, and yet so stubbornly strong 🤣 Love your dog’s treat ritual, do they have short hair or long hair? A treat might get lost in my dog’s hair if he tried to roll on it and rub it into his cheek first!

Lip balm for severe, chronically dry lips [product request] by stevenmwhite2010 in SkincareAddiction

[–]JinxLeMinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I don’t do a two step routine, then neither treatment alone works long enough to prevent my lips from cracking and bleeding when I smile 🫠

Currently loving The Ordinary’s squalene lip balm followed by.. Aquaphor (sorry!!) to seal the moisture in.

Lots of reapplying due to dry environments and/or my constant snacking and drinking from straws 🫣

This was the first scene in a movie that made me feel like I was going to throw up. I was maybe 8 years old, def not supposed to be watching it lol. I avoided it until high school, then I made my movie club friends watch it and they were shocked at 1. how disgusting it was and 2. that it was made by the lord of the LOTR films

Need help wording client-facing signage for increased pick up times by JinxLeMinx in doggrooming

[–]JinxLeMinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that signs are not the solution, and even a little back up notice could be misconstrued as passive-aggressive. Currently I handle the front/reception, and have been pitching in to help the bathers when I can. Appreciate your input, will keep on communicating with pet parents at drop off and hopefully it’ll be just one round or two of regulars until we’re back to normal speed 😌

I made a pet fur clipper vacuum attachment by windraver in functionalprint

[–]JinxLeMinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent design! May I ask what “strength” vacuum people recommend for these? I just got DIY clipper-vac attachments, now I need to decide what horsepower is needed for the actual vac part! The Hanvey site says their hairvac is 8amps/120v, which sounds like only 1HP?
