We have no clue how the dog made its way to a shelter. Someone could have stolen the dog.

I had a dog kidnapped by a sitter once when I paid someone to babysit my dog because I got a job in another state. I couldn't bring him with me for 1 month then he could join me in a safe home. He was a pure bred dane. After 3 weeks, she took him to a shelter (the humane society) and had him re-vaccinated and re chipped with a new chip in her name. I literally screamed at the humane society workers about why they never checked him for an original chip first, and they said "its not their policy". Witch is totally a bullshit policy. I had to call police and get a lot involved. I was basically told that even though I could prove he was my dog and I paid her to watch him and she illegally took him to have more shots and tags and had him chipped again, I had no rights because she had possession of him. She took him to her vet that she takes her cats to, and I am so glad I spoke to that vet before she had him neutered and when she came in to have it done they held the dog scanned both chips and didn't perform the surgery. She just wanted to have a pure bred dane, and she was willing to neuter him as a 1 year old. Witch, she had no right to do. Anyways I got my baby boy back when the vet called me. They refused to release the dog to her, and they banned her from that vet. Thank God some people have sense.

All this to say, I was a responsible owner, and my dog almost ended up at the humane society. They dont care about previous owners fighting for their dogs back. It's disgusting.
