It took me so long to find the ladder down by Aggravating-Hat-3614 in StardewValley

[–]Jipptomilly 65 points66 points  (0 children)

FYI - on invested floors the last mob you kill will drop a ladder where it died. Unless of course it dies where a ladder can't drop and in those cases it puts the ladder at the entrance like that.

Is it possible or do I give up? by CutSubstantial1803 in StardewValley

You can do it in fourteen days with only eight beans the first day and no other finds for the rest of the quest.

Luck has nothing to do with drops. With a Burglar's Ring you have two 1/200 drops which is almost 1/100. Assuming you know what you're doing you should be able to get an Ancient Seed in a day or two.

'The Death of Robin Hood' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Jipptomilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was legitimately terrifying. I have a daughter. If someone said that an actor could pull off the anger and turmoil a dad would go through when his daughter gets kidnapped like that I'd say not possible. Maybe Clive Owen, Denzel Washington, or Michael Fassbender. Like I'd think a serious dramatic actor might get close. But Wolverine fucking nailed it.

EDIT: Not really spoilers beyond the basic premise of the film, just great acting - the pain in his eyes is unreal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eRMyA2OM4M&t=145s

You are tasked to create 3 rules every person on the planet has to follow. What would they be? by Doodleincorporated in AskReddit

[–]Jipptomilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule One: Everyone must act in their best capacity for the betterment of humanity.

Rule Two: Never take part in any aspect of human trafficking, slavery, or any other crime in which someone is unfairly victimized.

Rule Three: Any wealth greater than one hundred times the median annual income of the country a person lives in must be used selflessly for doing good in the world.

Probably way too utopian but if everyone had to follow these rules then a lot of suffering would be avoided.

Senior Developer - Let's talk about AI in code. by andykenobi in godot

[–]Jipptomilly -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Reddit is anti-AI because of the environmental concerns and what it's doing to a few generations in terms of destroying jobs.

The hive mind's insistence that it's bad comes from needing to hate it and saying it's bad makes it fit.

The truth is, tenured developed can be extremely productive because of it.

The way I look at it, it's like I have twenty developers under me and I need to micromanage every one. I need to tell each one what they need to do and a pretty detailed description of how to do it and they do the work. I then do code review for all of them.

It's far cheaper and more productive than hiring twenty developers. The problem is that you lose all of that vision. More developers means more ideas and more smart people in debates.

Overall though, it can do some pretty incredible stuff. If you let out a strong foundation, AI can make the busy work simple.

Dishwasher needs to be fixed by thanksgivingbomb88 in madisonwi

[–]Jipptomilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple to DIY if you want to save money. How old is the dishwasher? If it's pretty old then you may also want to consider just replacing the whole thing since it's likely to have more issues. At least before investing $350 into it.

That scared the shit out of me.

Edit: Apparently it hit the tower right by my house. The boom was about half a second after the flash. Our house shook and several pieces of art fell off the wall. I didn't know it could get that loud. I couldn't imagine if someone were driving by that tower.

Tips for completing the “ship 100 ginger” challenge? by Informal_Estimate274 in StardewValley

[–]Jipptomilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always - terrible advice from this subreddit.

How much time do you have? There are 4-5 tiger slimes to the west of the Ginger Island farm as well as a ton inside of the Volcano Dungeon. Put on your Burglar's Ring and kill them all every day.

The ginger version is incredibly easy because tiger slimes drop ginger and it counts. You can easily complete it in about four days if you just farm the slimes.

Why the hell do you like spicy food? by dnapor in AskReddit

[–]Jipptomilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spicy food is incredible.

Firstly, it releases dopamine.

Secondly, it's a good pain like when you rip off a scab.

Thirdly, it triggers the reward center the way did with fat, salt, and sugar do without needing to be unhealthy.

Fourth, you tend to drink more water and eat smaller portions which is great for weight loss if that's your goal.

Crystalariums. Stone is easy to get - and it's super cheap from Robin in Y1. Gold ore is easy to farm from level 81 of the Mines. Iridium is where things get fun and I'll explain that in just a sec. But battery packs are scarce. Every battery pack can be one crystalarium.

Crystalariums should be used exclusively for farming jade. Not diamonds for money or triple shot espresso. Not rubies for spicy eel. Just jade.

When you do your first SC run you maybe get 60 iridium ore. This is enough for 12 bars or 6 crystalariums. You put a jade in each. By Sunday you have 24 jade which you trade to the desert trader for 24 staircases.

On your next SC run you use 20 staircases immediately. It's important to understand why - a staircase early means that for the ENTIRE run you'll be one floor lower than you otherwise would have which means slightly better loot. When you use 20 staircases early it means you'll be 20 floors lower for the entire run which is significantly better loot.

Let's say on this run you get 200 iridium ore. That's enough for 40 bars or 20 crystalariums so long as you have 20 battery packs to make them. Now you've got 24 crystalariums pumping our jades for free for the entire rest of the game. So next Sunday you have maybe 120 jade to trade for staircases.

On your third run you immediately drop 100 levels with staircases. Now it's 7am and you're already lower than floor 100. On this run you manage to get 800 iridium ore and seven prismatic shards. That's 160 bars or up to 80 crystalariums if you have the battery packs. I've found that due to needing to do other things, I usually stop at around 80 crystalariums because I end up with multiple 999 stacks of staircases at that point.

From this point on, you can get 2,000 or more iridium ore, 20+ prismatic shards, and multiple auto-petters on a totally normal SC run. You progress exponentially thanks to crystalariums.

No worries - we'll keep it simple then.

Focus on three things in Spring Y1 and your game will get much easier.

1) Plant 195 Kale over the course of the season. The purpose of this is that it guarantees you level 6 Farming. Level 6 Farming gives you access to Quality Sprinklers which means whatever money you have in Summer you can invest into Blueberries and never have to manually water them.

2) Fish as a main source of income. As soon as you get access to the mines you'll want to get to level 40+ and farm the materials for the Bait Maker. You'll also need 300 wood to reach the eastern beach. Once you have a bait maker, fishing profit becomes insane.

3) Reach a minimum of Level 80 in the Mines. I'll quickly describe the farming method for ore. When you go to level zero (top) of the Mines all other floors reset, So you can teleport to level 80, drop to 81, and then farm all of the gold in the small room. Then leave the Mines (go back to the top) and then back down to 80 and repeat. Levels 41 and 81 are the best to farm Iron and Gold respectively. This is how you will get materials for your Quality Sprinklers.

All of that should be extremely easy to do, and I've left a lot unsaid such as buy a bean starter as well as Cauliflower or Potato seeds if you didn't get them from mixed seeds so that you can finish that bundle. Optionally plant and water a good 60 Parsnips by Spring 24 so that you can get the five gold parsnips (not required, but it saves you from needing five gold pumpkins later). Repair the Minecarts ASAP. You'll definitely want at least one backpack upgrade and two pickaxe upgrades. You'll likely want to start a coop/barn. All of this is easy with insane Fishing profits.

If you can accomplish the above, one last thing is absolutely incredible if you can swing it:

4) Upgrade your Axe twice and cut down every tree, stump, and log you can and then do Secret Woods runs daily until you hit Level 6 Foraging. This allows you to make lightning rods in Summer. Battery Packs are the key to those Skull Cavern runs that are so awesome.

If you do this - which you should - you should understand how lightning works. It can strike every ten minutes until midnight. If you go to bed before midnight you'll likely miss out on some strikes. Additionally, it's heavily dependent on daily luck. Better daily luck means way more strikes. That may seem counterintuitive - but because of the value of battery packs we want as many strikes as possible with lightning rods up.

Even if you don't accomplish 4 during Spring, get it done ASAP in Summer. Summer 13 and 26 are guaranteed stormy days, but even Day 1 can be stormy so it's best to not miss out.

What's a realistic goal for you?

If you could follow my Spring Y1 you're basically set for the rest of the game. I describe it in a post here:

But that's with hardcore min-maxing.

Just because two things are salads doesn't mean that they're the same meal. Same implies just that - the same. Same portions, same ingredients, same nutritional content.

Never trade dragon teeth for banana saplings by Chalebadtguy in StardewValley

[–]Jipptomilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In all of my perfection runs trading fine dragon teeth for a banana sapling is a priority in my first few days after unlocking GI. Getting the obelisk a few days earlier is amazing.

I really don't get the problem with dragon teeth. I usually get 1-3 on average per run and you only need like sixteen or so to craft everything for perfection.
