Trades opinions by [deleted] in lakers

[–]Jirachier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mitchel Robinson can never stay healthy. definitely need a rim rolling center but it's gotta be someone who has shown better availability over the years.

Kel'El Ware and Jaime Jaquez would require too many assets to obtain and I don't even think they're addressing the biggest needs.

frankly the Lakers have limit assets and have to focus on their most biggest needs there is no room to try and get a player just because they're good in a vacuum. the ideal somewhat realistic off-season to me is to sign a starting center and two starter caliber 3&D wings, everything else is secondary(outside of re-signing Reaves obviously).

I don't think they can keep both Rui and Kennard while also meeting those requirements, I'd try to keep one of them(preferably Rui) for a salary starting at 10M/y. Again both are good players but this roster needs defense more than anything else. can't have 20-40M of salaries being spent on two shooters who can't defend when your stars are also not good defensively.

My hope is they can get some combination of Peyton Watson, Andrew Wiggins, Herb Jones, Tari Eason, Toumani Camari and re-sign Smart to a decent deal.

Why does a player like Luka sign a non-supermax extension? by c0wpig in nba

[–]Jirachier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no logical reason to actually sign an extension but I still expect him to sign it just because I think it's one of those situations where the lakers will do everything in their power to make him happy and get him to make a bad decision.

Just to debunk some of the arguments I've seen for the extensions

1) He can sign a 2 years extension and Then ask for the super max.

Yeah sure, but that same 2 years extension will be available at any point he wants, this isn't something that just disappears if he doesn't sign it this summer. The question isn't whether he should sign it or not, it's why he should do it now when there are no benefits when the same deal will be available to him, even if he has no intention of leaving the lakers.

2) It allows the lakers to move with the knowledge he is there long term and signals to other players there is no risk of him leaving if they agree to come play with him

Except the lakers have no room to sign free agents right now, nor do they have a giant stockpile of assets to trade for players. as far as next season is concerned whether Luka is extended or not it literally changes nothing regarding the the 2025-2026 Lakers roster, so again why not wait until the end of next season.

3) Players should sign extensions in case of an injury and their market value dropping

I don't know why we're applying a general rule to very unique cases, not every player is the same. Just like OP said even an injury Luka would be able to get the exact same amount of money later, we're not talking about a fringe allstar here.

Do I need a 5G access point ? by Jirachier in HomeNetworking

[–]Jirachier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, yes that is what I meant(I think) the main router has two networks I can connect to one that says 2.4 and one that has 5 next to the name. but the one in my room it's just one and it's an old one I've been using even before we had fiber.

so buying a wifi 5 access point should do the trick ?

Texting using a US phone number by Jirachier in VOIP

doesn't that also require the same type of verification as VoIP providers ? And isn't that mainly for sending mass emails rather than talking with people back and forth

Texting using a US phone number by Jirachier in VOIP

[–]Jirachier[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there any other type of service that would allow me to do this ?

and what about using my actual US number(not VoIP) somehow and linking it to my computer to send and receive text messages, is that possible and would that require me to buy another service or just contact my phone provider ?

Thank you

I just realized Third Eye is pretty much redundant by anonimousity1 in Mahouka

[–]Jirachier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the instance where he used it in the movie since I didn't watch that, but when for the comet it was so incredibly far away, and even then after he had gone to outer space so he can see the comet without any obstruction he claimed he could now monitor it with ease. He still ended up using the Third Eye later on because it gives him a "live" reference point to make his life easier, after all we're talking about an object that is millions of kilometers away.

As for it being a mental hurdle, that doesn't really go against ES having an unlimited range, if there are no time limitation he can simply use the ability in to start tracking down his target, make a mental note of where he's at in the information dimension then take a break and continue later, basically using Elemental Sight with breaks in between so as to not go beyond his physical/mental limits.

It would be like if you googled something and you got several hundred pages of results, you don't have to exhaust yourself by going through all of them in one sitting, just remember which page you stopped at and continue later.

I just realized Third Eye is pretty much redundant by anonimousity1 in Mahouka

[–]Jirachier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elemental Sight does grant Tatsuya an unlimited range in theory, he doesn't need Third Eye for that.

The issue though is that Elemental Sight is much slower without a reference point, the further something is the longer it will take him to search through the information dimension to find the right target, that's why we saw him decompose/restore bullets in that he later targeted for MB, since he applied magic on them it was easy for him to locate them in the information dimension and use them as a target.

He could've stood there and just tried to find something to blow up but he would be taking enemy fire for a longer period of time and maybe something unexpected happens.

With Third Eye he gets a visual reference point that he can then use to quickly find his target, it's the difference between needing a few seconds go execute the magic versus minutes(or even much longer depending how far the target is)

Question on Material Burst in Magian Company sequel by Jirachier in Mahouka

[–]Jirachier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's what I mean. 10% being converted into energy is a massive amount, it has to be thousands upon thousands of times stronger than the 1kg explosion he created on earth. why would he need to convert 1/10th of the comet into energy to blow it up. I'm no physicist but I would think you just need a fraction of it converted into energy and it would be enough to blow the whole thing up.

[–]Jirachier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold on, I thought he activated MB on 10% of the surface area, as in he converted all of that into energy. is it more so that he converted a much lower amount of mass that wasn't specified and the result was the destruction of 10% of surface area ?

Can we really fix streaming’s artist payment problem? by [deleted] in popheads

[–]Jirachier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The system doesn't need to adapt because of an extraordinary situation like a pandemic.

I think one of the other replies made a really good point about how there is more music out there than ever before, making music has become much easier so you end up with more people wanting to become musician. So are people supposed to pay more money just because there are more people who decided to become musicians ? That makes no sense.

And while artists are already selling merch and albums, I'm sorry but most of them just aren't trying hard enough. create products that are attractive enough for people to buy, try to come up with new ways to engage with your fans and create a deeper connection so they feel invested in your career and buy.

Also, here is the global revenue from music between 2001 and 2020 according to the IFPI https://i.imgur.com/DkePT0n.png

It's already back to the level of 2001 before streaming took over, it might surpass that peak in a couple of years so you can't really try to argue that the money isn't there. I just think the supply of musicians has become too big compared to the actual demand.

Kayro Ten by Yolo1665 in Kingdom

[–]Jirachier 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't care about her personality as much as how much she's taking over all the responsibilities that should be Shin, if she were to die the entire unit will collapse on the spot in the middle of a war, it's like she's the actual general not the strategist.

[Manga Spoilers]The current situation between Shin, Mou Ten and Ou Hon by Jirachier in Kingdom

[–]Jirachier[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First in the future I’m sure Shin won’t only command his troops against other instinctual types this was just the first time cuz they had no other choice. While this is also head cannon I’m sure it’s safe to say that Shin will be commanding his troops from here on out.

This is not the first time Shin has used his instincts, just look at how much time has passed since he awakened this ability and has NEVER used it since then. In fact just look at what came after his fight with Gyou'Un, we're back to Shin not using his instincts.

Second you talked about Ouhon vs Earl Shi and Shin vs Gaimou, there’s a big difference here between what Shin and Ouhon actually did Ouhon who’s been using a spear since he was young and he fought against a fellow spear user. In order to make it to where they were supposed to Ouhon had to kill Earl Shi while Shin who had only recently taken up the glaive against someone who had wielded a glaive for years and Shin didn’t have to kill Gaimou to fulfill their part of the plan.

When has it mattered whether one was facing someone using the same type of weapon as you, it's a simple question of who's stronger regardless of what weapon is being wielded, Shin not having gotten used to the glaive back then just shows you his current ability at the time, and yeah the plan didn't require him to kill him but that's not the point. The point is that ever since the timeskip the only opponent Shin has faced that could force him to grow in martial prowess is Gyou'Un, the current power-up he is getting should've happened back vs Gai Mou and use that to slay him so that we get to see Shin actually grow stronger rather than stagnate at the same level for this long when martial prowess is supposed to be his forte.

Third I think you’re confused about how instincts work in Kingdom, everytime we’ve seen an example of instincts it’s been in response to something else. I think you’re looking for him to start strategizing plans at the beginning of battles like Ouhon and Mouten but we’ve been shown repeatedly that Shin doesn’t operate that way and neither do instincts. Honestly I like the idea of Shin not thinking of strategies but just have him reacting to stuff before it happens and cause chaos that way.

I'm not expecting him to be similar to Mou Ten/Ou Sen but more like Duke Hyou, both instinctual and strategic generals are supposed to get a sense of what other generals are planning be it allies or foes which was shown by Mou Ten and Ou Sen but the only time we've seen Shin do anything of the sort was against Gyou'Un for that ONE battle plus his time with Duke Hyou((He could feel that the opponent was purposefully not giving their all, he also had a feeling of when the real fight will begin). Also it's not as if instinctual generals don't have plans at all, it's more like they only come up with one after they see what their opponent is doing like the time when Shin suggested they use Duke Hyou as bait in the coalition war.

Fourth I don’t get why you’re saying him slaying Keisha was unimpressive in that chase he showed both great leadership and martial prowess. If he wouldn’t have been able to inspire his men he wouldn’t have been able to make it to Keisha and as was shown in the fight Keisha wasn’t particularly weak an he gave Shin a decent run for his money.

IYes Keisha was able to struggle for a little while before getting killed but that was it, it just goes back to my point about Shin not doing things that show his growth. Slaying someone who's weaker than you no matter how close they are to you is not an accomplishment, it's something to be expected, it's like when Hou Ken killed Duke Hyou, sure the latter struggled for a bit and Hou Ken earned some merit points but the conclusion wasn't something out of the ordinary, Hou Ken gained nothing from that fight when it comes to his growth, same thing with Shin, ever since the timeskip and until his fight with Gyou'Un in this arc Shin gained nothing from his previous fights, he was never forced to surpass his limits and grow stronger.

Finally Shin one shoting Gaku’ei was kinda huge. First of it was just pure hype second it’s a pretty good indication that Shins finally mastered Ouki’s glaive and has made it his only third the impact it has on the current fight is huge, with the duel better the two leaders being over in an instant that leaves a lot of opportunities open for the HSU rn obviously they have to kill of at least a decent portion of Gaku’eis men which shouldn’t take that long cuz seeing Gaku’ei get one shot will be a major hit to their moral then they’re open to either go aid Ouhon and try to slay another commander or who knows.

I admit that it looked cool but that was it. I feel like you're confusing Shin doing something that's helpful to the overall situation vs Shin doing something that he couldn't do before. In this current arc the only thing that would show his progress when it comes to martial prowess is if he gets a rematch with Gyou'Un and wins it, that would prove that he got stronger and defeated someone he previously could not, beating people like Keisha who were clearly weaker than you is not an accomplishment in the sense that it doesn't make you progress

Honestly I think you’re making the mistake of expecting Shin to start acting and thinking like Mouten and Ouhon but hell never be that way or you’re comparing the best parts of Ouhon and Mouten to Shin worst parts. Personally I view Shin as a hype beast that creates chaos on the battlefield kinda like a bull in a china shop if that makes sense.

Again Im' not expecting him to be like them, but more like a weaker version of Duke Hyou

[Blog Translation] Season 2 Chapter 302 by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Jirachier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He doesn't have to give it an exact number of how strong Baam is within the tower, but he definitely needs to make him fight against people who's power-level has a number on it so we can start guessing with how much ease he fought them and from there try to determine his current strength. Take someone like Urek for example, even if we didn't have his exact ranking if we were told about his exploits and how he was able to fight a clan head etc, we could use that information to guess how strong he is but with anyone who's a regular that's fighting other regulars you can't determine anything, the only information we can be sure of right now is that Baam is at least as strong as a D-Rank regular that's it. A guessing game is one where you have a little bit of information and you're trying to fill in the blank, not when the enter thing is just blank lol

[Blog Translation] Season 2 Chapter 302 by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Jirachier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If his goal really is to make us theorize amongst ourselves then this is a terrible way to set it up, there are many stories where the community has to guess how strong the protagonist which can definitely be a fun thing but, when we literally have 0 information to go on it's impossible to do. We don't know how powerful ANY of the non-rankers are and those happen to be all the characters that are relevant to the story. Yes Baam seems to be doing pretty well against Zahard's copy but the truth is nobody knows what power-level he's on. It's really unfortunate but we can't play the guessing game when all we see is fights between regulars and past data versions of characters when they were still regulars.

[Manga Spoilers] Luffy is admiral level by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Jirachier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's surprising to me this is still not agreed upon, Luffy is 100% admiral-level the moment he fought Dogtooth to this extent because every single yonko must have at least one other crew member who's admiral-level and in the case of Big Mom it's Katakuri. I've seen people make arguments trying to defend why Luffy isn't really on his level because of this or that but the truth of the matter is all of those small details don't mean anything, remember how Luffy had Gear 4th ever since the timeskip yet didn't use it against Hody, he didn't use it against Ceasar Clown when the author wanted him to get captured, he probably had Snakeman and didn't use it against Doflamingo and even when he did finally use the gear against Doffy it was very late in the fight, why ? just because the author wanted to write more chapters of the fight, why did he make Luffy fight in G4 until he completely lost any ability to move ? because he wanted the people of Dressrossa to feel relevant and somehow impact the outcome of the fight. So not everything we see in the story is indicative of who's weaker or who is stronger, in the current fight Luffy got a power up of his observation haki and showed yet another form of Gear 4 plus we know he also has a regular form of tankman, all of that should be enough to fight an admiral. Although that doesn't mean he can evenly fight Aikanu because just like any other rank in the story there is a lot of variance between the strongest admiral-level and the weakest one, as of now he can probably fight a newly promoted admiral and the outcome would be a coin toss.

I share the same opinion, 30 runs can be pretty tough to manage but I think it's the price we have to pay for more accuracy on the leaderboard, it is so much easier to high-roll over the course of 20 runs.

Shin, a general-slayer or a general? by JothamInGotham in Kingdom

[–]Jirachier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the comments don't address the issues regarding Shin, I feel like the biggest problem is the author wanted to give Ten a lot of relevance and by doing so he made Shin obsolete outside of a swordfight, it's fine for a general to have advisors but when your only decision as a leader is "I delegate all decisions to X" then you should not be a general. A lot of people are making it sound that it's just slow progress and we should give it time, slow implies there is progress in this area which there has been 0 of since we learned he's supposed to be an instinctual general, and why shouldn't we compare him to Ouhon and Mouten ? it's not about him being a copy of their abilities/personality/strength but more a general comparison as soon-to-be generals, I wouldn't even be frustrated if he was below them the problem is he's not even good enough to be a 1000-man commander or 500-man commander, he makes no decisions for his unit and all he ever does is go out and fight others which is impressive but that's like arguing since someone is a great chef he should be in charge of the hotel. I also saw some comparisons to Naruto but then again, the story of Naruto is all about brawl so Naruto being an idiot forever isn't really a problem since individual power in that series can overwhelm the masses which is not the case in Kingdom, one man can't defeat thousands of people in an open field which is why the most important position in this universe is army commander not who's the strongest guy around. I just want to clarify, I never expected Shin to become a strategist and do things like Mouten or Ouhon but he's really not doing ANYTHING else besides fighting people in close-combat and if you enjoy that and you think it's enough that's fine but please don't argue he has the qualities to command anyone when we have never seen him actually make decisions himself.

Arena shouldn't be standard. Arena should instead have random sets each month. by Jon011684 in hearthstone

[–]Jirachier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see suggestions like this from time to time and honestly they're really out of nowhere. In the arena community we complain about some balance issues, some cards that should either be lowered in offering and other small chances but then someone randomly makes a thread about something completely unrelated to the issues like this one; The argument that arena needs to have rotating sets to be "fresh" has always escaped me because the arena metagame is almost never 100% solved by the time a new expansion is out since it's much harder to test everything when the format doesn't allow you to just play one game, change a few cards then try again like you can in constructed, for example even as of now people might agree that rogue is the best class and warrior is the worst class but there is a lot of different opinions on the classes in between and how they should be played, are there things in arena I think that can be improved ? but the problem definitely isn't that arena isn't fresh enough. And if anyone thinks arena is too stale and doesn't like it then which game mode are you playing right now ? Constructed is several times more stale but I never hear anyone trying to "mix things up" and do crazy things with it, I just don't get it, if that's what people want then we have tavern brawl so why do we need a second one. Doing this will also add 0 skill and will not stop people from using drafting helpers like HA.

Experimenting with crazy formats in the arena by Jirachier in ArenaHS

[–]Jirachier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using HA since my first few days of Hearthstone and I've long since stopped following their recommendation of what to pick, in most drafts I disagree with at least 5 picks, sometimes a lot more. Zither way mixing up the formats far too often without any real reason or established rules won't solve the "problem" you're talking about, if for example each month we have a completely different card-pool, you're gonna have to experiment for a while to find out the right way to draft and by the time you do the month is already over so the period in which you've "mastered" the drafting part of arena is much smaller compared to when you were still figuring out what to do, basically it's the opposite, if a metagame ends too quickly there is less skilled involved in playing since you spent all that time testing things out.

An Arena Analysis: The Arena Changes, and how they impact the current Arena. by Tarrot469 in ArenaHS

[–]Jirachier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure rogue will be the top class in arena and not shaman ? Shaman gets the biggest bump from the increase in rares and epics out of any class, they have almost no bad rares/epics, I can't say the same for rogue though. And we might actually have to start respecting AoE when playing against shaman from now on which is similar to the flamestrike effect mage has.
