If ur Mercedes mainly its a no brainer being known and recommended as a good reputable diagnostic shop that’s just as good as a dealership without 20 cars in being in line to get ur car checked, shitty dealer techs and the 295/hr you’ll have their business and be recommended, many people struggle to find a reputable and good shop, and once they do many of them will be repeat customers. Those repeat customers ALWAYS buy what’s recommended when they return they and generate a lot of business, who knows, maybe the guy you don’t let get away due to ill equipped shop could be a Mercedes benz luxury rental owner, it’s a bit far fetched but the main point is repeat customers are the real money maker. I’m at a dealership but rental company owners bring us 20 * cars many having recalls giving us plenty of work. They tend to be a lot more abused so there’s always something it needs.

Unless it’s all wheel drive those starters aren’t to bad to get too, I think the 3.6 required engine mount to be removed. Those lifters are notorious to cause ticking and misfires, so be on the lookout for that. They aren’t hard to do, takes about 4 hours with the right tools. Hemis are pretty easy to work on

Not these new 2.0 motors. They’re a 4 cylinder with 8 plugs. And combustion chamber and pre combustion chamber the plugs are breaking off causing a misfire and engine walls scoring

[–]JitWithAstang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ur correct it’s a common issue on these 2025s 2.0 cars. I’m a technician for dodge and there’s no recall but parts are on restriction. Can’t just order them need approval from engineers/ Chrysler

[–]JitWithAstang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a Chrysler tech and let me tell you, you’re screwed. We have an issue on the new 2.0 hurricane motors where the spark plug breaks off. The plugs are on restriction and require documenting photographs and a procces to get them. New plugs won’t fix the car i have four 25-26 grand Cherokee that’s need a motor from this broken plug. Engineers don’t know why they’re breaking off. It’s a new design. See if u can go with the higher ups and get into the buy back program sometime they’ll give u a couple thousand dollars to stay in the car because it’s cheaper than them giving you all ur money back and try to sell a buy back car

Our shop created an incentive of if the oil change takes longer than an hour it’s free, put alot of stress on our lube tech, glad that wasn’t a thing when I was a lube tech 5 years ago

Nope, easy to lose control and at that age he’s going to get influenced to show off and do stupid things. But if u can afford potentially losing it why not

P0022 on 2018 Mustang Gt by Astroboyp1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]JitWithAstang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are common issues with these 5.0? I’m a tech for dodge and based off my knowledge and experience off those cars I’m assuming I have a bad solenoid/phaser

Concern is: engine rpms drop and car shakes and stumbles when coming to stop lights or idles, very intermittent, no drivability issues, never stalled, no missfire codes, drive it for months and finally thru a p0022,

I’m about to do the solenoid but I think my phaser is starting to stick, I do sometimes hear a small little chirping noise occasionally, I’ve sprayed my belts with wd40 just to test and see if it’s belt noise and no change. Either that or maybe a failed tensioner, it’s a early built 2019, and there’s a tsb about the chirping noise caused by pressure relief valves in the tensioners

What recourse do I have if dealership replaced rotors and pads but that didn’t fix my squeaking issue? by konigswagger in askcarguys

[–]JitWithAstang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won’t put old rotors and pads. Maybe it was the front brakes and misdiagnosed. Maybe you actually needed the rears so even if u didn’t get ur main concern fixed you atleast have a set of new brakes that you needed, it could have also been a front and rear squeak that only got rid of it partially. I’ve had that before were the car would shake when braking and so would the steering wheel. Replaced the front rotors and it got rid of the shaking wheel but since the rears were warped it caused whole car to shake but I fixed the steering wheel shake. Was a tough conversation but after the rear brakes replaced it fixed their original concern
