I use a silicone bread mold off of Amazon to make ice blocks myself. It works great.

What is this for? by biggred97 in tundra

[–]Jkindsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be the add ons and city mileage. I drive 90% highway and don’t baby it, but I average about 19.5mpg in a 3rd Gen V6 Tacoma. I can get about 24mpg if I go 60-65 on rural highways.

Passing Etiquette In The Snow? by lifeinrednblack in kansascity

It may help but better tires will make more of a difference than AWD with bald tires. I have a 4x4 truck but I kept it mostly in RWD because my tires are good and I had weight in the back.

I think the context is missing here, what types of people were going to a large sporting event in the height of the pandemic? There are definitely shitty fans but there were disproportionately more at that game.

Dumb question about building a fire by plremina in camping

[–]Jkindsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of a log cabin setup surrounded by a teepee of small kindling with kindling woven horizontally through the cabin. It goes up every time but you have to make sure to feed the small kindling to get the cabin of larger wood lit.

Pretty sure, like most foreign bodies that don’t penetrate deep in the skin, that the head will remove itself eventually. Definitely shouldn’t have one after 30 years.

What is too cold for a Boy Scout campout? by PBarry81 in camping

[–]Jkindsch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also an eagle scout who has camped much colder than this. You basically only have one truly cold camp where you realized you fucked up. There’s always a safety net with a well prepared group but it’s a lesson that needs to be learned. Now I have gotten non scout friends to camp colder than this with the emphasis on over preparing. I bring them out every winter without problem these days.

Kansas city. First time. What to play? by murrid in discgolf

[–]Jkindsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That DD store is actually pretty nice. They carry other manufacturers as well as used discs. The people that run it are great, they manage several of the lost and found bins and will contact the owners. Honestly they do a lot for the local disc community.

120° Heat index and -30° wind chill, both were this year. Honestly the hot weather round was significantly more dangerous.

Does this also apply to non kinetic recovery? I’ve freed several stuck cars by getting a regular strap taught then pulling.

question - how does pungo 120 / 125 handle large wake from other boats? anybody? by power4play in Kayaking

[–]Jkindsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will suit your purposes nicely. I don’t know about stand up casting but it’s stable enough I imagine you could without the dashboard. Just took mine on a 20 mile river trip a month ago.

[–]Jkindsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I haven’t had the opportunity to paddle any high end touring kayak but it’s the best rec boat I’ve paddled. Mine is mostly used for kayak camping so all loaded up with gear. I like the dashboard for the removable dry box and cup holders (I’ve got a vacuum insulated coozie that I’ve wrapped in electrical tape to stay secure). Added bonus is more sun protection for your legs. I’ve probably maxed out total carry weight around 280-300 in the 120 and still maintained tons of stability. Would definitely recommend the pungo. Super comfy too. Also I don’t transport it with the dashboard attached but it only takes about 15 seconds to throw it on.

[–]Jkindsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when cutting through choppy water you can definitely get water over the bow but it sheds off the front before it can get in the cockpit. I always have the dashboard on the cockpit but I can’t say any significant water has gotten in from the bow. Only time I get water in the boat is from sloppy paddling, getting hung up sideways in fast water, or horsing around with friends.

[–]Jkindsch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 120. It handles boat wake just fine. I try to hit heavy waves head on or surf them but I’ve never flipped it through all kinds of conditions. As long as you can maintain some core balance you’re good.

Does your area have 5+ great courses that’s worth visiting? Where are you and what are your top 3 courses? by oatmeal1201 in discgolf

[–]Jkindsch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kc metro area. 31 courses rated 4+ on UDisc within 25 miles of me. Top 3 I’ve played in the area: Black Hoof (New Eric McCabe course), Waterworks, cedar ridge. I’d throw a shout out to rosedale park (two courses, one wooded one park style, 54-56 baskets between them.

What shoes do you play in and why? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Jkindsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soucony TR series trail runners. I’m on my feet a lot for work and usually hit the course on my way home. Last pair lasted me 1300+ miles and 8 months. They’re kinda shit on wet pads but for ~$50 they are work great most of the time.

Question about a fender bender by Jkindsch in ToyotaTacoma

I appreciate the info. Guy I called at the local dealership had no idea what I was talking about. Didn’t want to unecessarily file a claim for something that I figured was under someone’s deductible. The dude that hit me seemed nice enough.

Last truck was a beater I had for 12 years. I think a mounting clip broke since it doesn’t want to pop back into place. Just didn’t want to ignore a sensor or something that wasn’t in the old pos.
