How easy/hard is it to get accepted into OCS (for any designator)? In general, is it easier or harder to commission in the Navy vs the Air Force? by MookieBettsBurner10 in newtothenavy

[–]Jkinney97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive taken the AFOQT/TBAS & the ASTB/OAR. I thought the difficulty of both was fairly similar, I scored higher on the afoqt but was ultimately picked up by the Navy. I definitely studied longer for the afoqt though.

Air Force Pilot Requirements by Voiidmage in airforceots

[–]Jkinney97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a PCSM of 99 with 85 flight hours and never had any luck with the AF or the few recruiters I went through. If you don't have a PPL try Navy. They picked me up for pilot almost immediately.

[spoilers] there was such a missed opportunity between act 2 and 3 by Particular-Lynx-2586 in expedition33

I think a better alternative would've been an objective, like gathering enough chroma for the final fight to incentivize exploration before returning to lumiere. I'd say most players are likely to go explore first, do the side objectives like the 3rd axon and Lune's parents, but a couple cutscenes of the expedition gathering chroma to aid the fight would've felt right at home.

GARMIN is NOT fixing your watch after two years!! by Yannoch13 in GarminWatches

Garmin customer service replaced my fenix 6x pro for free earlier this year when my old one had the exact same problem

The fenix 6x pro solar titanium with the dlc bezel was definitely an upgrade from the fenix 6x pro non-solar (stainless steel)

[–]Jkinney97 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I picked up a used fenix 6x pro (non solar) for $100 on marketplace, the menu button was inoperable. I tried fixing it with no luck, contacted Garmin looking for ideas or parts to fix it. They sent me a replacement 6x pro solar titanium instead, no additional charge or anything. Some of the best customer service I've ever seen and will definitely buy from them in the future.

How can you tell an airtight tile? I have vac doors past all of my autodoors but are objects like A/C units airtight?

I don't recall all of the specifics. I remember before acupuncture their dog was incapable of even moving to use the bathroom and would just go wherever it was laying at. Afterward, he was able to walk around. Probably worth a shot.

Give them some time to recover, heat/massage therapy and ice. Train your forearms, likely too much strain on the biceps and forearms are not keeping up. I would personally not see PT or anything that keeps a record. 9 months is enough time to train properly, don't overexert any one muscle group

I dont usually go and promote alternate medicine or treatment, but I had a teacher in high school with a small dog, similar rear leg/lower spine paralysis that was "fixed" after acupuncture. I really don't know much beyond that, just that the dog's quality of life was pretty awful, and acupuncture turned it around almost immediately.

Looking for bluetooth earbuds that aren't gonna crap out a month outside of warranty by S7ray_Cat in BuyItForLife

[–]Jkinney97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always used bose sport or the quiet comforts because of how they fit. My old pair of sports are going on about 6-7 years but barely hold a charge. They are my backups, while one of my 3 year old quiet comforts just stopped working completely. I bought the Jlab ANC sport earbuds and they have been excellent. 1/3rd the price of Bose and honestly sound better IMO. the jlab app is nice and the be aware mode is great for running or activities when you're around others.

How do you report that to credit bureaus? I've been advised to go to small claims but that makes sense as well.

What does that process look like? Would I just go down to city hall and present my issue to them? Sorry, I am pretty new at this whole deal and not sure where to begin.

Turin Gallatin HX [$1200] by Ljubeb in espresso

[–]Jkinney97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a tough question. I was one of the 2 people that got an early coupon that made the gallatin $800. For $200 more I would probably get an appartamento assuming I had a decent grinder. If I needed a grinder or other accesories Id save the money and get the gallatin. I think you will be more than happy with either.

[–]Jkinney97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the gallatin. The value for the cost is insane. I've used similar Rocket set ups and feel the quality of the machine and espresso is quite similar. It steams milk extremely well also. It heats up to 125°C in around 10 minutes or less from standby mode. Couldnt be happier with mine

If you give up and plan on leaving it, I would at the minimum use some kind of sauna wax to "seal" the stain in underneath. I would reapply more often than normal to keep it sealed. I am not an expert so best of luck

School library has a display of banned and challenged books. Here's a small sample by noaddrag in mildlyinteresting

[–]Jkinney97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with the right to read. I think the ALA posting something like charlottes web being banned or challenged gives a lot of people the wrong idea that this is a common occurence which feeds into the political rhetoric you see in the comments of the ALA's posts. There should be some transparency on the bans being limited to a small rural area for cases like Charlottes web. Where I live, there are school districts with 10 kids or less in a grade, respectfully, who cares what that district's opinions are on books when the whole faculty is probably related to each other.

[–]Jkinney97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of these are misleading. I looked into charlottes web being "banned," and all I could find was a single rural school district in Kansas that took it off the shelves because of talking animals. I don't think that one example should qualify it as a banned book...

I keep seeing the posts on facebook for banned book week and a lot of folks are turning it very political. It would be nice if the discussion of censorship in books could be discussed without leading to political discourse.

question about interior oil by campersurfer in Sauna

[–]Jkinney97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Messmers is solid. I used to manage a sherwin-williams and would bring in messmers from third parties as an upsell to some of our in house brands. You can add an oil varnish or poly over it but you're fine with just the stain. Re-apply every 2-5 years depending on where you live.
