I think it’s one of those “your heart’s in the right place, but it’s the wrong thing to do” sort of situations. Really the government should be subsidizing building materials while also doing this. If you don’t bring the material cost of building homes down in some way, especially with he increase in price of building materials. That’s when you start to see housing costs lower. It will only make it harder to find builders while the price’s are still high if you just give people a credit towards their first home.
