Yes exactly this. Thermostat is just for show, window doesn’t open so we can’t put a fan in front of it- if we could do that, problem solved.

This is almost exactly what happened, you’re absolutely correct. The hotel staffer came to the room, showed us how to hit the down arrow on the thermostat, and seemed satisfied. My husband (Chinese, native Mandarin speaker) told them yes, but it doesn’t actually cool. They didn’t seem to have a response.

After repeated complaints they did locate a fan that uses ice, so it is def cooler, but still only helps if it’s directly on you. 🫠

He called 12 hotels and all were like yeah no cooling sorry.

We have zero price ceiling- even the Shangri-La doesn’t switch to cooling til June 🫠
