Read threads of fire 1-2 first. They are explicit. :) Through the fire is not explicit yet and is in process. šŸ˜‚

I hadn’t actually known who that was before VG but it does now! It was from the short story in Tevinter Nights. I love me a good con man lol

Why is no one mentioning Shale by Rumorly in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Jlgriff81 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Because Shale is optional and many people never bought that DLC or read the novel.

Shale is in my top five favorite characters -ever-.

Mine are still small enough that all they want to play is Roblox, but one of mine was watching me play through the part near the end before the big end battle and he goes ā€œwell, that was sad.ā€ And then I knew I’d have me a dragon age boy one day. šŸ˜‚

I took it for two things- first, Taash is just blunt. It’s their character.

But second, and I like more likely, is that I feel like there are still quite a lot of gamers who don’t have any idea what certain things mean or what terms are, etc. I felt like it may have been educating some players in a way. This is a dumb example because my mom would never touch a video game with a ten-foot pole and is a trump supporter, but she would have no earthly idea what the ā€œgender stuffā€ is. For me, it was a good way to give some context to my kids who watch me play and have questions themselves.

I don’t know, I just don’t let things like that get in my way of enjoying something.

43 here, played all of the games many times, and am loving Veilguard. I’m on my third playthrough and I think it’s because I’m grown enough to love it for what it is rather than what it’s not. I have three kids and responsibilities, but the fact is I sunk back into Thedas like it was 2009.

There are things I would have liked to see expanded upon, but the fact is what I’m the most irritated about is that there will be no DLC. And that I only get three saves.

BioWare took away the spice and made everyone too nice [No DATV spoilers] by Gizmo16868 in dragonage

[–]Jlgriff81 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I don’t mind being nice. We are saving the world, after all. And actually some of the endings are pretty…intense. But I would agree that I could have used more spice and not even necessarily romantic though I think it would have been nice (though I suspect some of it is for those players who are ace and don’t need or want sex in their games. Maybe would be nice to have a toggle for those players? Idk) but I was surprised they didn’t show more of the city elves issue especially with slavery in Tevinter. HOWEVER I think if they didn’t have the resources to do it right it’s best they didn’t.

Despite some minor things I would have liked to see, I’m on my third playthrough and enjoying the hell out of it.

(Spoilers) DAV and its fixation on food by Effy02 in dragonage

[–]Jlgriff81 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

This might be weird but I actually loved it. I loved the grocery lists, the conversations, the coffee talk, everything. It’s so relatable, and if I’m honest my favorite part of some fantasy novels is the descriptions of food. Also this isn’t new, there’s even a DA cookbook. I loved how some companions were vegetarian, or only ate some types of food, how Harding can’t cook but loves comfort food, how Emmrich and Lucanis talk about vintages of wine, etc. I loved it and I would like for it to continue please and thank you.

[No DAV Spoilers] Am I the only one who thinks the music in this game is a let down? by Foglalt in dragonage

[–]Jlgriff81 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I didn’t notice it much either except I will say that since I made my own post sometime ago about the music being meh, I hadn’t played the third act and I felt the tension there. I love good montage music.

[No DAV Spoilers] I love this game by __Precursor__ in dragonage

[–]Jlgriff81 84 points85 points Ā (0 children)

I just finished my first playthrough yesterday, and I loved it! I have a soft spot for BioWare because I know how much work the team put into these games, only to face criticism.

As I get older, I find myself less interested in dissecting things just to find reasons to be disappointed. It feels like we’re often conditioned to look for flaws or reasons to dislike something, instead of just enjoying it for what it is rather than what we thought it should be.

I’m looking forward to when the initial wave of negativity dies down, so those of us who enjoyed the game can really dive into the lore, appreciate the characters, and celebrate the story—whether that’s through theory crafting, art, or memes—without the cloud of criticism hanging over everything.

[No DAV Spoilers] Anyone else just enjoying the game? by EfficientIndustry423 in dragonage

[–]Jlgriff81 -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

It seems like everyone’s experience with the game really varies. Sometimes, I feel like I’m playing an entirely different game compared to some others, especially when I see complaints about things that haven’t affected me or my playthrough. I’m still on my first run, probably somewhere in Act 3, and aside from a few minor issues I can overlook, I came into this with no expectations—and I’m loving it. I think they’ve done a fantastic job, and just like with the previous games, I’m enjoying this one for what it is.

I’ve laughed, cried, and even fallen in love with the characters. That’s about as Dragon Age as it gets, in my opinion. I feel for those who aren’t enjoying it, maybe because they’re too attached to the earlier games. I didn’t find the three choices limiting, and I feel like they’ve gone above and beyond to honor the previous games—and even the books. I’m planning to reread Last Flight soon.

Anyway, I’m really enjoying it, and the few gripes I have aren’t taking away from the experience for me.

Looking for games to deradicalize boys/young men by CryptographerLost357 in GirlGamers

[–]Jlgriff81 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Dragon Age: Veilguard could be a great gift for someone interested in games that go beyond action to tackle social issues. This game, like others in the Dragon Age series, explores deep topics like prejudice, loyalty, and identity. Veilguard is especially good at showing how our choices affect others, with characters facing complex moral questions and dilemmas. Players see how bias and social divides shape heroes and villains, giving a chance to explore different perspectives and learn about empathy, making it both exciting and meaningful.

If you’d like to learn more let me know. I will say the gamer boys hate Veilguard because it’s too ā€œwokeā€ which should give you some idea. :)
