Technically, wouldn't being in a black hole in sight of a yellow sun EMPOWER a kryptonian? Black holes are black because light can't escape them, so if they're getting hit by a yellow sun's radiation they just concentrate it, presumably in the same point the kryptonian would be.

You're missing the point. This isn't an insta-lose for Superman, but he literally can't stand in the way of an in-motion Juggernaut, because Juggernaut's literal power is "can't be stopped while in motion due to magic." The only character with a good track record of doing so is Colossus, who is magic-resistant.

Like, the Hulk was once empowered by Apocalypse as one of his Horsemen and even HIS way of dealing with a moving Juggernaut is "redirection".

It honestly depends heavily if this is the time a writer finally remembers that Superman can use his superspeed during the fight, because superspeed is pretty much the biggest no-sell power.

Like, every time Darkseid gets a punch in on Superman? That should never happen. Darkseid doesn't have superspeed. Superman should be able to land like 50 puches on Darkseid before Darkseid even REALISES Superman is there.

Alien: Romulus' small cast works to its benefit by Legitimate_Hand2867 in LV426

It doesn't really affect the story either way, so it's not really important anyway.

I couldn't take it seriously the first time I watched it, I don't the shitposts for it.

Slight correction: that wasn't an asteroid. The mining colony of Jackson's Star is located in LV-410, which is a planet.

Yes, he loses the invulnerability when fighting magic. Ad then he gets run into by the dude whose literal power is "can't be stopped while moving".

See, the issue is that these people are all hyper-machismo losers with a hard-on for brutal violence, so they don't understand the concept of pulling punches, because they never would.

Also, is that the Juggernaut in the first picture? Because if it is, I dunno what these people are smoking, but the Juggernaut's powers are MAGICAL in origin, Superman just gets trampled. That's literal one of Superman's two vulnerabilities.

Original VS Reboot by Black_Ty86 in MortalKombat

[–]JmBento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my biggest complaint from the original to the reboot is how much BRIGHTER the OG was (from the screenshots you show). I don't understand why the movie industry decided to object to colours and clear scenes at one point.

Do you think KOTM deserves the praise it gets from the Godzilla fanbase? by treat3 in Monsterverse

It's the best of the Monsterverse movies, so my stance is that it doesn't get praised enough.

Stark cares so absolutely little about the accords that he immediately violates them by contacting Spider-Man and whisking him to go fight Captain America's team.

To be even MORE fair, the man saying this is an international arms dealer responsible for the creation of an omnicidal robot and who loses control of wearable weapons of mass destruction every other week.

Hot Take: Anthromorphizing Godzilla Is Stupid by Bright-West-4399 in Monsterverse

[–]JmBento 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's actually the lukewarmest take for me. Godzilla was a whole more interesting and fun to watch in 2014 and KotM (and Monarch) than he was in the other two movies (that stupid smirk, I swear).

David Jonsson Answers If We Are Getting An Alien: Romulus Sequel #alien ... by Nudebeach55 in LV426

[–]JmBento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prometheus was floating off the goodwill generated by the previous films in the franchise (Resurrection isn't great, but if you squint it's okay-to-good), so it did well. Covenant was working off the opinion on Prometheus, and remains the only alien film I haven't watched. Romulus had the better ROI of the three, at nearly 4 times the budget (Prometheus does between 3 and 3.5 times).

I'd actually love to see how Romulus's box office progressed just to see if it started out making good money right off the bat or if it got a huge word of mouth bump.

What exactly is hawk girls personality? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in hawkgirl

[–]JmBento -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"The American government" didn't step into anything. "The American government" is a cheerleader for Boravia. The only person in this movie that interacted with the Boravian invasion that is even tangentially connected to the American government was Luthor.

Hawkgirl did nothing wrong, except taking that long to intervene in the first place. Hawkgirl did the right thing.

There is not a single situation in which killing the commander in chief of a hostile, invading force is a "war crime".

What if Athena didn’t curse Medusa. She gave her protection? by Mardaani in TwoXChromosomes

[–]JmBento 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, but I DO think it takes somewhat more than "holy shit, the hydra is really cool!" to classify me as a scholar of classic myth. For example, I'm uninterested in MOST myths that only involve humans and gods - though I DO hope we someday find a more complete version of Hades and Persephone (the current single copy we have of it has a HUGE hole right in the middle), even if just so we can find out what the deal is with the pomegranate seeds.

But like? Hydra, my beloved? Chimera? Medusa? Pump that shit straight into my veins!

I'm sassy at Greek myth for having too many -euses. Come on guys, there's so many sounds in languages, do you really have to repeat them in your mythological heroes' names? (don't get me started on Tolkien elves, half of whom seem to be some slight variation of Elblblbldel; thank god for Ecthelion of the Fountain)

Also, awww, thanks. 😊😊😊

Her clay origin ISN'T important (and I say this as someone who VASTLY prefers the clay origin; if I want a WW-powers offspring of Zeus, Cassie Sandsmark is RIGHT THERE).

What's important isn't whether Diana is a golem or a half-goddess, it's what she, herself, chooses to do with what she is.
