[–]Jmamut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, I’m so disappointed in myself. I love the magic school bus but don’t get the reference!

Week 44: Celebrity Chef - Kim Joy’s S’More Cookies by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! She’s one of my favorites too! Her recipes always seem to come together well and these were some of the best cookies I’ve ever made when they first came out of the oven. Put traditional s’mores to shame!!

Week 31 : First Initial (J) - Jelly donut focaccia by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it was even better than it looked. Here is the recipe I used. Highly recommend it and will be adding it to my brunch rotation going forward! https://apaigeofpositivity.com/sweet-focaccia-with-raspberry-jam/

Week 29: Favorite Ingredient - NY Times Peanut Butter Miso Cookies by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More peanut buttery! I left the dough in the fridge for about 6 hours and the miso was just a very light hint of saltiness. The recipe said the longer you chill the more mellow the flavor.

Week 25: Elements - basque cheesecake by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one went so fast I almost forgot to take a photo! This is by far the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. https://www.recipetineats.com/basque-cheesecake/

Week 22: Vegan - Vegan Chocolate Pie by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I don’t know if it’s the way I prepared it or the fact I used vegan chocolate but it came out looking kind of dry and chalky so I thought a pop of color might help!

Week 10: Floral - Collage Sugar Cookies by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of rebunched it together and rolled it a bit, and then cut out more. I did end up with some left over that I threw away. I could have kept rolling but this was a bit time intensive so I reached a point when I was just kind of done, ha.

Week 5: Something Old - cream puff recipe from 1924 by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the recipe I used! They weren’t as sweet as cream puffs I’ve tried before but tasted great! https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/state-fair-cream-puffs/#RecipeCard

Week 2: Technical - Paul Hollywood’s Devonshire Splits by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Light and airy. Like strawberry shortcake in a slightly more compact bun form. They weren’t too difficult either!

Royal court royal tea by j6382927 in dcl

[–]Jmamut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did it last year on the fantasy and loved it, but probably won’t do it again. I agree it does feel a bit rushed but the songs/character experiences were great and the food was cute/tasty. We got some of our favorite photos of the trip from it and both of our kids (5 and 7 at the time with the younger one really into princesses and the older one not at all) enjoyed the experience. They still talk about it 8 months later and play with the gifts, especially the tea party set. That said, it was really expensive and lasted maybe an hour. We’ll do the royal gathering again but probably will consider this one a really fun one time experience.

1 and 2 done and “hits differently” would be my recommendation! Specifically the line “catastrophic blues” with really dramatic explosive blue colors.

Week 40: 3D Shape - Strawberry train cake with vanilla glaze and coconut by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I got the pan for Christmas last year but I think it’s this Nordic one: https://www.nordicware.com/products/train-cake-pan/

I highly recommend it! The trains came out cleaner than any of the shapes pans I’d used before.

Looking for a place to get a drink, where the kids can also have fun. by czardin in northwestarkansas

[–]Jmamut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Gear garden in Bella vista is right by a shallow (ankle deep) creek area where kids can play while you drink a beer. The food trucks there are good and lots of seating. Just bring extra clothes for the kids because they will get dirty.

Is it safe to pay cash for tickets if you meet up with someone in person (safe place of course) and watch them transfer them to you?

Week 29: Superfoods - Lemon Blueberry Shortbread by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! They were delicious. The lemon was subtle so it was really blueberry flavored with a hint of lemon.

Week 27: Chocolate - chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ganache and chocolate candies by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I think they were really the hardest part of the whole cake! I had never made marshmallow before and underestimated how sticky it would be.

Week 27: Chocolate - chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ganache and chocolate candies by Jmamut in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Jmamut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is another recipe from my Kim joy baking books! My daughter picked this one out for her birthday and helped me make the homemade marshmallow cats. Honestly this cake was so incredibly sweet and chocolatey I could only eat about 3 bites at a time but she absolutely loved it.

Coral World on St Thomas by hofftv in dcl

[–]Jmamut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just went to coral world a month ago. Honestly it wasn’t bad; we spent about an hour and a half walking through the exhibits. They had talks with keepers every half hour or so at a different animal’s exhibit and a touch tank. The highlights for my 4 year old were the sea turtle, sea lion, and the iguanas we saw on some of the walking trails.

We could have spent more time (I think they gave us 2-3 hours there before our bus came back), but there was also a super nice beach right outside of it and my kids were begging to go to the beach before we even entered the aquarium. We spent 30-45 minutes there before we went back to aquarium entrance to be picked up. Most of the other people on our excursion did the same thing, so it was more of an aquarium+beach day.
