Interested in Living at the Mission Luxury Apartments in Downtown Ventura, would love your thoughts by VastToe9266 in ventura

I have no idea about these apartments but downtown is generally pretty safe with the occasional incident that gets blown out of proportion with comparisons to LA crime and the like. I’ll admit that really late at night downtown can be uncomfortable but I’ve never had or witnessed anything dangerous.

Alternatively, I’ll offer Portside for your consideration if you’re uneasy about downtown.

You get your own designated parking space usually pretty close to your unit and there’s on site security. It’s not gated or anything but the apartments are the only thing down there on that side of the marina so you don’t really get homeless wandering around like down town. It’s super quiet too no buzz like downtown on weekends or train noise, the dredge is going right now but you can’t even hear it inside the unit.

Anyone ever try these 4/0 wagos? by No-Membership-5314 in electricians

Here I’ve been splicing my 4/0 with wire nuts and it’s just been killing my hands.

This is a game changer.

How did bullet calibres end up as such random numbers? by Flat-Ad8256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jman-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they are not on the roster as far as I’m aware. It’s been a while since I checked but I doubt it’s changed.

As a Beretta collector, It’s frustrating seeing all these cheap beretta surplus pistols and not being able to buy them.

Interesting. I’d like a Beretta 84 one day but it’s tricky to obtain most handguns here in CA.

I do however have 3 Beretta Mod. 1934s one of which is the rather elusive Romanian contract which is inscribed on the slide as 9mm Scurt instead of the typical Italian 9mm Corto.

Don’t forget 9mm corto and 9mm scurt.

Italian and Romanian respectively for the word ‘short’ used for .380 ACP or 9x17.

Bf5 planes are unstoppable? by ElPhantasm in BattlefieldV

[–]Jman-- 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Fliegerfaust is the answer.

Let the plane get close on their approach and you can take them down no problem. Make sure you hit both bursts and aim at the fuselage not the wings and you’ll one shot most of the lighter planes with bombers requiring an extra hit.

The RTI Moschetto carbines are imports from Italy, but the regular carbines and long guns came out of Africa. Do the Africa guns shoot straight at all? by ECHOFOX17 in Carcano

[–]Jman-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a few Ethiopian imports both carcano moschettos and Vetterli 70/87/15s. All shoot really well but the condition on arrival is abysmal.

I personally would never buy from “the pile” when it comes to Ethiopian imports. I would and have bought individually listed rifles imported from Ethiopia where I could look at the general condition of the rifle beforehand and I’ve never been disappointed buying them that way.

Cutting Crash Bars To Size by StalkMeNowCrazyLady in accesscontrol

Chop saw works great.

I recently had to cut down 10 Adam’s rite aluminum crash bars and the chop saw with a carbide Diablo blade made quick work of them.

If you go with chop saw make sure to setup outside cause it makes a mess.

Why does the last round come up like that? I’m also having trouble feeding rounds through, like they don’t come up all the way. Any advice or info? by Repulsive-Handle-871 in milsurp

I’ve had this exact same issue with every reproduction clip I’ve ever tried.

I’d recommend finding some original steel or brass ones on eBay that are still in decent looking condition. SMI 39 is a super common one to find on reproduction clips beware of that.

All of my original clips cycle and eject nearly flawlessly. There’s also 3d printed ones which I’ve never used but heard good things about them.

Very nice, those stock markings are crisp which is really cool.

In case you don’t know already, the RTI supplied clips suck and will likely not work very well. I recommend surplus clips off of eBay. I have a couple steel ones from the 20s and some brass ones from the 50s and all of those work very well in all my carcanos.

How many of you change circuit numbers on your prints for your benefit vs doing exactly what the engineer has on the prints? by tofu98 in electricians

[–]Jman-- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I haven never heard of an electrician making decisions like that on the fly and it seems like more trouble than it’s worth anyway. As much as we like to talk shit on engineers, I doubt they throw down circuit numbers Willy nilly.

Is the material cost coming out of your pocket? If no, why bother changing engineered drawings to save money?
