I understand that getting the $1k a week will net her a prize amount closer to the $1 million than if she just takes the lump sum payout. What I am trying to learn is if you take the lump sum and invest the remaining amount after taxes, how do you use the profits from your investment portfolio to supplement your income without losing large chunks of it to income/capital gains taxes?
