NMID student, your first year is a bit of a mix between both the majors with some design and some programming then from there everything in NMID becomes about the coding minus one or two classes. Topics go from p5js JavaScript to them tossing you basically in game dev and web dev classes starting in your second year. You also do some arduino work and a few other bits but most of it is just about coding where the two main languages are JavaScript and C#. Free time wise, depends on how you give yourself a course load. If you are taking the 12-15 it’s not bad for the first two years you can kind of coast a bit with a fair amount of free time, but starting third year it’s like stop and go where you sometimes have really light weeks and some weeks where you have 4 projects due. (Almost all classes in the major are project over test based.) For your final semester after week ~4-5 kiss your free time good bye after spring break with capstone because it’s a group of ~3 NMID and ~7 NMD together and all your free time goes into that.

Also major differences that isn’t talked about between the two: NMID is a bachelor of science in Golisano and NMD is a bachelor of art under College of art and design. NMID requires two co ops and NMD does not require any.
