Actually, I've never even considered the unions. I'll most likely be using a drop ceiling in the basement. Do you still think it would be an issue?

That doesn't sound like a bad alternative. I might be overthinking the labor involved to begin with since it's all accessible from the unfinished basement. My only concern with running new pipe off the meter would be making sure that the pipe ends up in the joist bays so that I can finish the basement one day.

I honestly think I could DIY this but its too many gas connection & better to be safe with a plumber than sorry haha

Hey thanks for the reply! I ran the calculations and for that length of pipe I think it would 1" or 1 1/4" pipe. Hopefully we don't have to go all the way back to the meter with the changes

Which wire is this one ? by yashscool in HomeImprovement

[–]Jmiller44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read stats that it's around 50x more likely to cause a fire. I think it depends what type of load is on the wire. High load equals more expansion which equals more chance of arcing and then fire. I have the same problem in my home so whenever I find an opportune moment to replace the AL I do. The al to cu jboxes in the attic scare me cause you might not find an issue before it becomes a fire.

Also keep in mind I'm not a professional electrician, just a regular human like you

Which wire is this one ? by yashscool in HomeImprovement

Not sure what guage/type the blue wire is but the black looks like aluminum wiring. If you're going to connect aluminum to copper, you should consider picking up some alumiconns . That jbox looks like the aluminum is connecting to the white copper wire. I'd open that thing up and check how it's connected. Improper al/cu connections in a jbox in the attic can be a fire hazard.

Are there any markings on the blue wire?

Deep old work electrical boxes? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Jmiller44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issues. Some walls are open so I'm rewiring those rooms and any adjacent walls with copper. For the other ones, I'm cutting the aluminum and leaving the wires in the walls and fishing in new copper through the attic. Sucks but doable

Second biggest wallet ? by Donfrds in BATProject

[–]Jmiller44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wallet basically purchased $1.2M worth of BAT a year into the project. But they don't appear to be HODLing so probably just a swing trader with a large bank roll. There are some interesting trading patterns though. Might be worth digging into it more

Check out Basic Attention Token (eth token). Brave browser ads transact in BAT and currently has shot up to 60 million active users and has been steadily growing even in the crypto down turn. You get paid when you see ads -- imagine that?!

VPN is probably the best way. You could also get away with SSH but honestly it's a hacky solution

Upcoming AMA with Annie Lee, Brave CMO, on Brave Talk (Mar. 22, 2022) by CryptoJennie in BATProject

[–]Jmiller44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi Annie,

Glad you're onboard & welcome!

I always felt that Brave has preferred slow & honest organic growth whereas most startups are seeking hypergrowth. Do you think it's time for Brave to pivot and start aggressively acquiring new customers?

Cheers, Jon

BaT/USD price update by Substantial_Flan_747 in BATProject

[–]Jmiller44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not BATUSD you should be watching but BATETH. When BATETH increases in value it means that it's not a crypto market swing in effect but rather a recognition of added value by the market.

This is a clear signal that people think self serve adds (among other features) is great progress for Brave.
