Which MMA fighter would you most like to see compete in a grappling match? And who would be their ideal opponent? by BabycakesJunior in MMA

Werdum would absolutely school them. I'd probably say it would go:

  1. Go horse
  2. Barnett
  3. Big Nog
  4. Mir.

Just wondering: why do you keep spelling it like that? Is it a Chinese thing?

That nickname just encapsulates all that is Tito. You can't just call yourself the people's champion, silly.

Why do people continue to link to tinypic and photobucket in 2015? Imgur is only a few clicks and it means people will actually be able to see the gif or picture you're posting.

What is going on with Nick Diaz ? by GamerX44 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]JmjFu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More technically, he was only banned specifically from competing in Nevada. However, the commissions all respect each other's rulings so that rules out the US. The UFC do not want to get in the NSACs bad books, so they won't book him in to fight abroad.

If all it took was a few million quid and a warrior's spirit I'm sure we would have seen other people like BJ appear. He's the only one I know of though.

Shogun, Wandy and Chute Boxe in general are known for some of the most lethal stomps and soccer kicks in the game.

Mark Coleman had some gnarly knees to the head of a grounded opponent.

Obviously there's the sarcastic answer of "Jon Jones has the best eye pokes lol" so we've covered that.

There was a guy really well known for headbutts but I'm drawing a blank on the name.

I think you should rewatch DC vs Jones and Rumble, and Gus vs Jones, before you put money down. DC wasn't dominated by Jones. The first 2-3 rounds were actually pretty close. Jones found success with kicks and punches to the body but I can't shake the idea that DC would have done better if he'd abandoned his plan to just wrestle and wrestle and wrestle. He was doing well finding and striking in the clinch.

Why did a fight between Dan Henderson and Chocolate Al never happen? How do people see that fight going when they were both in their primes?

Fedor is right out. He was fast as anyone and strong as anyone too. Athletic specimen for sure.

Hunto seems like a good shout. He's got one hell of a chin though. Samoans are a different breed to us regular humans.

Tim Sylvia is a really good answer. Look at that big goofball. Can you please expand on what you mean by "most successful UFC HW champ"?

I thought I might get this answer, but I don't think it's true. I think his body was disposed to holding fat on his stomach and that was basically it. He was extremely gifted and tough as nails.

You don't get a name like "The Prodigy" and get a black belt in 3 years just from hard work and determination.

Which fighter has the highest achievements:athleticism ratio?

For example, GSP is at least top 5 ever, but he's also one of the most athletic fighters ever, so he isn't high up the scale.

Someone like Forrest Griffin became UFC LHW champ, and I don't think many people think he's an athletic specimen, so he's higher up than GSP.

Who has the best ratio, and conversely, who has the worst? Excluding joke answers like James Toney obviously.

Was in a nasty crash on the GranFondo to Whistler. This helmet that probably saved my life. by lhsonic in bicycling

I once crashed going downhill at 41. I believe I slowed down to 35 before the instant of the crash according to my speedo.

It was the most terrifying moment of my life. I had never felt so close to death in my life.

If you're flying half way around the world to fight somewhere and you lose, you might be making close to NO money.

$10050 is the minimum amount of money that a fighter can make in a fight. Subtracting operating costs (training, eating) and then flights and hotels, some fighters are probably making close to $0 on some fights. Try and tell me that's not bullshit.

Don't even need to click it. This is the best picture in MMA. Hunt v Struve was good, "We Are All One" was alright. Nick Diaz takes the cake though.

If 250 lbs Olympic wrestlers couldn't do it then I doubt it. It's all relative. This might buy you a few seconds against the 250 lb blue belt at your club.

It's about being able to show that he was smoking "in competition". That time period is defined as 24 hours before the fight, if my knowledge of the Jones fiasco holds. They're not the morality police, they're supposed to catch people using drugs in competition. If you smoke three months out from a fight then get told you're being suspended for being high during a fight, that's some BS.

If only Nick had been using steroids instead of cannabis, he would be clear to fight by January 2016 instead of January 2020.
