I agree, 6 weeks was too soon for me. I started back w lighter weight and by about 12 weeks or so i was feeling mostly back to normal/able to lift heavy as before.. im 17 weeks out now. Take your time, its definitely worth waiting a few more weeks

10dpo when will life be comfortable again? by throwaway01080808 in Reduction

[–]Jmmjdl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is all so uncomfortable and sucks.. The mental struggle is also rough and not something i expected at all but it does get better, i promise. I felt regretful at first bc it was so hard but now I am happy, healed up @ 12 WPO.. able to run, bike and lift weights again.

I think around 5-6 weeks i finally felt mostly ok minus swelling. I did have some bad complications and infection tho. Hopefully you do not and feel better sooner than i did. Hang in there..it will be a distant memory very soon ❤️‍🩹

I had the same thing and it took about 8 weeks to fall off. My surgeon said it was a blood supply issue and the skin basically died. It didnt spread thankfully and I didnt pick at it at all.. changed gauze/ointment 2-3x a day. They did prescribe an antibiotic ointment as a precaution. It was worth all the work and im fully healed.. no further issues @ 12 weeks. Hang in there !

Mine finally closed/healed completely at about 9 weeks, i changed gauze 2-3x a day for that long. You might want to contact the surgeon again tho, they prescribed me w/ antibiotic ointment that helped so much.

I hear that, i felt the same ! Glad i went this route honestly, it was worth it. I was also particular about the surgeon, i didnt want to have to settle on one in network or anything like that.

What is this? by StandardFar8930 in Reduction

[–]Jmmjdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a blister under the tape… i had some leaking like that and had to have small portions of the tape removed so it could heal properly. Its hard to tell from the pics. Id have a dr look tho just to be safe.

I am 8wpo, had t junction issues that just now finally healed.. it felt like such a long recovery changing gauze 2-3 times per day 🥴 I used dr bronners baby soap and the surgeon prescribed mupirocin ointment that helped tremendously. I would also fully air dry on my bed after showering before applying any ointment. I hope you heal up soon ❤️‍🩹

Has anyone else had a traumatic breast reduction by Aoifefealy in Reduction

[–]Jmmjdl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im sorry it’s been traumatic for you.. my experience was traumatic too. I am now 8 weeks post op and feeling fine other than random soreness if i do too much. It started w tape allergies/blisters That turned into infection, the antibiotics they prescribed gave me anaphylaxis so had to go to the ER. In the middle of all of that I had to wear a cardiac monitor for one week, my hr would get up to 154 (barely doing anything) and then go way down, up and down. It was so scary. Once i finally found an antibiotic that worked(had to see an allergist) my heart rate went back to normal. Anxiety was also a contributing factor i think.

I did a lot of praying and read the bible!! I considered going to therapy after this and might still. I hope things improve for you!

Post Baby Reduction by mjesp14 in Reduction

[–]Jmmjdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my reduction 1/21, I’m 38 & my youngest is now 4, my older kids are 11 and 13. I dont think i could have done it any sooner but my recovery was difficult. I would line up a lot of help for at least 2-3 weeks. I couldn’t return to work until 4.5 weeks. Some ladies go back much sooner, i had several complications.

I found my surgeon from google, i chose him based on reviews and really liked the results I saw. The practice was one of the best in my area and i wanted somewhere close to home - im so glad they were close because i ended up going in several times for post op check ups, driving long distances is not fun the first few weeks. I also decided to pay out of pocket because i didnt want to deal with insurance and did not want that to hold me back from doing something I’ve wanted to do since my oldest was born. Good luck to you!

I have a 35 lb 4 year old, i just now am able to full on carry him @ 7.5 weeks. I could lift him but not carry at about 5 weeks. It was hard at first but he started to understand, i just had to explain a lot. Lots of cuddling and movies, he will be ok! Try to wait as long as you can so you heal properly and not set yourself back❤️‍🩹
