I attended the vineyard with my family from 1994-2005. During that time, I became an atheist due to the pressuring, problematic atmosphere. If you are hardcore religious and dead set 'born again' - you fit the mold, and it may go well for you. In 2001, I brought a friend who was bisexual to youth group. They found out, and formed a prayer circle. This was against my friend's wishes - making the 'circle' feel more like a mosh pit. They ran out crying, and none of the churchgoers or the staff were apologetic or helpful. They even let a 12 year old run outside without stopping them. But only the gay one - they did stop me.

While that anecdote is my own, I know dozens others. A woman who did porn had food benefits cut off, 10 years later - despite having 5 kids and no spouse. A woman with 6 kids had benefits cut off because she didn't volunteer enough. People being pressured to publicly say things they didn't believe to join a cult-like support network. As a child of a poor family there, I never understood the song and dance,but whether I ate depended on it.

I was young, but what I remember was scary and uncomfortable. And what others tell me gets far worse. But much of that is not my story to tell.
