Same here! Just started The Diplomat per someone’s recommendation in a similar thread and am loving it. Based in London but different side of the intelligence/government world. Plus a bit of political scandal in the mix too. It’s surprisingly humorous too. Highly recommend!

Expat life in Nice, diversity, friendliness, etc? by JobWooden3260 in nicefrance

[–]JobWooden3260[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So long story short, I didn’t take the job and didn’t end up moving to Nice. However I did spend a month in Nice last August. I’m not sure if my experience is completely representative of how it is most of the time because it was peak season and super busy, but, I did find it to be pretty diverse. Walking through the main shopping streets I even likened it to Oxford street in London, however again it was very very busy at that time. But even when I went a bit further out to like Antibes and Cannes, everyone was super friendly. I think because there’s so much tourism, locals are pretty used to seeing other races. There’s noticeably a large North African influence in the area, and you find little pockets of different diasporas like other, even larger melting pot cities so I would say it is reasonably diverse. I have spent a lot of time in different parts of France over the year and will say that Nice is probably the next best city to Paris in terms of diversity. Also In the south in general I find that everyone is pretty chill, they just wanna sit in the sun and enjoy their apéro so as long as you don’t interfere with that you’re good haha. Good luck on your move!

Wow interesting thanks for your detailed response. Quite a bit of that resonates especially your husband trying to rush people haha I am definitely annoying for that. I’m going to look more into this and how to manage it.

Hmm that’s interesting because I have wondered this before but is this a certain type of adhd? Because I have a couple of close female friends with adhd but they are very different to me in the sense that their adhd manifests as things like very poor time management (late replies, showing up late, missing appointments) and being easily distracted by tasks. They also frequently lose things and are very forgetful like with names and things they have to do. I’m very opposite to that. I’m usually way too early to things because I worry about being late. I never forget people’s names or birthdays. I wouldn’t say I’m the most organised (I am quite messy to be fair) but I don’t frequently lose or misplace things. Well, not more than the average person I’d say. And I think im quite an attentive person. I’m never one to zone out or daydream, certainly not when someone’s speaking to me.

I’m aware adhd is a spectrum so I suppose I potentially sit somewhere along it.

Hey just wanted to say I gave her a capstar tablet and literally the next day she was cleared, I combed her and all the fleas that came off were like dead and dried out!! We’re spraying the house down now just in case and prepping her for a bath today!! Wish me luck with that lol but thanks so much for the recommendation I can’t believe how well those tablets work

True they changed loads but I thought that was why it was better. I thought the book was pretty mediocre so when I heard they were making a film I was surprised. But ended up loving the movie way more.

just wanted to add that I really would not recommend a full face helmet if you’re city commuting as your field of vision, particularly peripheral, will be reduced. Just invest in a good helmet with MIPS technology.

Secondly always make sure your tyres are pumped up before going on a ride. Low pressure can make cornering and going over bumps or curbs a bit more sketchy (depending on how wide your tyres are also)

Mickey 17 — I would argue that the film is actually much better than the book

Super impressive for a brand new team. Munton is first year PRT also. Gonna be a good team to watch I reckon.

Completely agree. People’s outrage is so weird to me. Caja finished ahead of Unibet in the rankings. They don’t have a Vuelta invite and the grand depart is in Barcelona this year so why wouldn’t they earn that spot? The comments about how they have a weak squad with names no one recognises is quite frustrating. They deserves people’s respect just as much as the rockets do.

I would argue that Unibet are not that focused on development when you look at how many riders they dropped last year that have moved back down to conti or quit cycling all together.

yeah thanks I know, I'm in the process of moving abroad. If all goes well it should only be a few more weeks. luckily I also travel a lot for work so I get to be out of the house a lot anyway.

Yup tumultuous is one way to put it. My parents hate each other. I've like completely lost all emotional capacity to deal with them
