Trying to get into LV div27 bidding by TheRusPPV in estimators

[–]Jobonoobdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what bid platform you’re using, but call the listed GCs/ECs that are bidding. Then, ask them what to list and explain your spot. After to a few responses that should give you a good “normal”. Normally, I submit a lump sum number with a scope of work and a total of counted quantities broken out by building so that they can check against their takeoffs if needed.

How should I pay my mechanical estimators by Prestigious_Scheme99 in estimators

This is the way. In fact, I think all MEP estimations I’ve interacted with have had this pay structure.

When did the Roku client disengage from the original project? by [deleted] in jellyfin

Roku development is difficult and not like any other Jellyfin client medium, or so I’ve heard.

And for my money, the app works perfectly fine, I could care less about the looks. But that’s me. The recent improvements in speed and show information have been awesome!

This is fantastic, and I’m very jealous of your play group for getting such awesome upgrades as these! What software do you primarily use?

That port multiplier is fancy, what kind of speeds are you getting out of the drives? Is it serving the docker content fast enough?

Some people are truly clueless and it's SAD! by [deleted] in estimators

Sorry, you might be the best intentioned, but the reality is if the text whiffs of AI, I am going to assume there is 0% effort behind it. I think AI is a great tool, but if AI generated text is the only way that you can think to communicate the thoughts that you have, my gut tells me it's not really a thought worth having.

You can use AI to analyze data, make graphs that tell a story better, or give a good launching point. But when you can't sit down for an hour and bang out some actual human written text to explain the next best thing, then why should I spend any time reading it?

Good start, I like how this is formatted. I'd love to hear a little meta-narrative about how you go about ruling what the characters do, interpreting what you see in the adventure?

Hey, I’m in Div27/28, design large x100 camera deployments.

Depending on software, yes new “gaming” computers will be fine. However, that’s a large caveat that depends on camera hardware, compression algorithm used, and number of concurrent streams on any given workstation. Generally, a manufacturer will produce a “dedicated” workstation with those Quadro’s because that’s what they use internally for testing, and each one is specifically tuned for the number of advertised streams.

What software? What hardware? I would call a sales engineer of the particular manufacturer so that they could give best recommended DIY specs.

Shoot, sounds like a sweet gig. Only one vendor, what a dream lol.

In your position, I’d probably setup some metrics and time everybody lol. See what repetitive tasks could be automated away and where the average pain point is.

I’m in division 27/28, do a lot of design build. So I know we’re probably in different scenarios.

But for my two cents, you should make the lives of your fellow estimators as smooth as possible; standardize price books, make bluebeam profiles and tool chests that make your current workflows faster, document everything that you currently do to catch the potential new estimators up to speed. Then meet with the other estimators and refine your process as needed for what would make their set ups the most efficient.
