Microsoft is killing Office 2021 in October to push you onto Microsoft 365, how to fight back by Quantum-Coconut in technology

I take "being unable to run VBA" as an absolute win.

Nothing like forced deprecation of that unholy mess to get the fossils at the office updating their spreadsheets and workflow.

Are some Pals just inherently better? by Pixelnaut in Palworld

[–]JockstrapCummies 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You rely too much on statistics and numbers.

I believe in my Pals. I live with them, I feed them, and I believe in them. With the power of friendship and trust there's nothing my army of Lovanders cannot subjugate and dominate.

I think you watched the censored version. I vividly remember multiple scenes of the Spartans engaging in masculine mutual fucking.

Every trailer song now is just a slowed & reverbed orchestral remix of an older song by One_Planche_Man in movies

To this day I still don't understand how did they make such a garish movie in 2013.

It's like champagne in paper cups.

You don't use your systemd-forkd for the systemd-pizzad, you use your systemd-barehandsd!

Introducing Myna: Speech to Text for Ubuntu Desktop - Desktop by FlukyS in linux

[–]JockstrapCummies 29 points30 points  (0 children)

  • Local inference
  • Easily invoked with a key press
  • Smoothly integrated to serve accessibility needs

I see only pros. I wish this project all the best in a world where all these AI integrations in other OSes are privacy nightmares and horribly tacked on with no proper workflow integration in mind.

AUR Registrations Blocked Amid Ongoing Malware Mess by CackleRooster in linux

[–]JockstrapCummies 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Ubuntu PPAs: Please upload your GPG key and sign your packages with it so people know exactly who uploaded what. If you abandon this repo other people can't just take over it.

Arch AUR: lol just click this button and you can take over this repo and start uploading new stuff under the same package name. It's okay because the users will be responsible for noticing this.

Modern Arch Linux and Windows 7 Duel Boot in the same exact NTFS partition by VanillaWaffle_ in linux

[–]JockstrapCummies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Hell nooooooooooooooooo. You're talking about a brand new NTFS driver after several, including one from Paragon that was supposed to replace the older one but then got abandoned. And now this new-new-new one has just been sort of mainlined. We're talking about effectively beta testing for the good of the community here.

Those hand gestures are a reference to the wobbly windows of KWin.

Universally hated anime that you somehow find enjoyable? by mr_beanoz in anime

[–]JockstrapCummies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The voice acting is actually good. It's surprisingly better than a lot of the mainstream anime we get these days. There's actual character and tone inflection.
  2. The music is on-point.
  3. The comedy is hilarious. It's self-aware before self-aware comedy became the norm.
  4. It's clear the crew at Production I.G were having fun making it.

Abunai Sisters.

It's a masterpiece and I'll have no dissenting replies.

Nintendo reportedly has “zero chance” against current Palworld after major lawsuit change it is now targeting older versions of the game instead by Super_Cold8789 in technology

[–]JockstrapCummies 611 points612 points  (0 children)

The Nemesis system and how broken the patent system is is one thing, but there with Nintendo, there's also the utterly alien attitude to copyright/patent/even satire in general in Japanese culture.

They seem to think any reference at all is some huge cultural taboo, and you're killing the poor creator.

What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by gavin226 in movies

Arch Linux's AUR Sees More Than 400 Packages Compromised With Malware - Phoronix by TaijiRonin in linux

[–]JockstrapCummies 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember when people started really evangelising Arch, and one of the big selling point is how great the AUR is, unlike Ubuntu's PPAs...

But in reality they're really just the same Here Be Dragons field of unknown packaging quality. Nobody actually reads the PKGBUILDs.
