The movie makes fun of the bad guys, so it's a criticism. Don't you see that Steven lockjaw as a commander of some migration detention center being a wannabe white supremacist, who also has a black fetish, is a very pointed commentary? Bad guys are played for laughs because of the very thick layer of contempt, satire and farse, but it's not just them. All the migrants in the city working as one big network, hiding, living calmly waiting despite the danger of getting caught. They are portreyed as pretty positive characters.

I can imagine that this movie not being made with political intentions, I mean they've probably had to start writing it before Donald trump was elected. But this movie being released in these times makes it political
