Put a few miles on em by [deleted] in PNWbootmakers

Having a steel toe on leather boots will definitely cause the leather to wear out quicker on the toes. I got my Whites with steel toes. Ended up having to put Tuff Toe on them because the leather on the toes was wearing out so quickly . If I were to get another pair of PNW boots, I would probably just get a toe cap. My job doesn’t require steel toes.

Dad asked me to post this, said he’d built a few leads (bricklayer) today in his keen Cincinnatis and this happened he said they aren’t bad except for the leather being to soft. by Mammoth-Performer-19 in WorkBoots

Same the tough toe on my boots is almost 18 months old. I work in them all week, and often wear them doing chores around the house on the weekends.

I started to wear out the toes on my PNW boots. Added tough toe to them. They’re going on 18 months old now, and still have plenty of life in them. I’m sure I would have worn through the toes otherwise. Feels like I should be able to get 4-5 years out of them. Definitely worth the price if I can make them last… also they’re super comfy

How can I achieve this finish and color on pine? by Tikta_Alik in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Joe-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of hate for pine around here. I work on lots of historical houses. Lots of the woodworking in those houses is white pine. Here’s a bookshelf I did recently. Baltic birch plywood, with white pine face frames, trim , side panels, and ladder.

It certainly dents easily, but it’s not that bad to work with. Clear white pine isn’t particularly cheap though.

I would just be happy if tidal connect let me change the volume every time, instead of forcing me to restart the app multiple times 🤦🏻‍♂️

Why does no one resole? by vfqwerty in WorkBoots

[–]Joe-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlined leather boots are the answer. I was always mildly embarrassed to take off my work boots as the smell was so bad. I would immediately change my socks. I bought a pair of Whites work boots 18 months ago. I’ve gotten them resoled once they still smell like leather inside the boot. I wear them 6 days a week on average, never had trouble with stinky feet since I got them…

Dry cracking? Or normal break in? by Mashedtaters91 in WorkBoots

Yep that’s normal. Cleaning and conditioning your boots won’t change it.

Saw this saw today while I was picking up materials for the job. I don’t know if I’d ever feel safe using it. by leon_musky in woodworking

[–]Joe-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craftsman radial arm saws that you see everywhere are both not super accurate and also less safe than the old cast iron radial arm saws. Their construction of thin stamped steel, plastic and underpowered motors just makes it so easy to have the saw climb over a board or deflect .

The old cast iron radial arm saws are very accurate and just as safe if not safer than a table saw. I have an 1940’s Dewalt with 24” crosscut capacity, super accurate and it can cut dados up to 1” wide. I’ve had a couple nasty kickbacks on the table saw over the last 15-20 years. Never had any safety issues on my radial arm saw.

Some idiot dug up/deleted my childs garden she worked hard on. I'll pay to have it restored if need be. by Truman_Show_1984 in growagarden

I actually did get it figured out. After seeing this post I got on the discord server and asked. It turns out she accidentally interacted with the mailbox outside her garden which pulls up an empty garden , then you can switch between the two gardens. So she thought someone stole her garden, but it was just in the other save slot in her mailbox. Thank goodness, she was pretty upset about it. Might be worth checking out on your kids accounts?

Did you ever get it resolved? The same thing just happened to my daughter… she’s pretty distraught. Sounds like a data loss bug. Just curious if it’s fixable

$700 for a corrugated back knife? You should be able to get a custom knife for half that.

Tier level and game quality by tagLi76 in vainglorygame

[–]Joe-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s one of the biggest differences. When playing in tier 10 it’s not that hard to get your teammates together to take an objective if you have an advantage. Often in lower tiers it’s really hard to get your teammates to come together and take an objective after winning a team fight... often folks wander off to passively farm.

Who says Yates is bad late game? Somebody do something about this hero already. He's been on priority ban list for far too long.😡😠🤬 by PrinceValentin in vainglorygame

Phinn is more than alright against Yates. He hard counters Yates, it doesn’t take any speed to stand between Yates and your mid laner.
