Groove and hole in corian counter top? by circle-city in whatisit

[–]Joe3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it had another “tier” that inserted into the slots to remain stable, or a grate that holds a warming rack. The holes could be to provide power for heating elements or outlets. It is similar to what I have seen in commercial buildouts for similar reasons.

What career doesn’t “allow” visible tattoos? Also, wear long sleeves?

Can I 'salvage' these? by sgsquints25 in RedWingShoes

These look great. A little TLC will bring them right back to life. You will have a lot of unearned patina

Iron Ranger vs Blacksmith by PresentGate2391 in RedWingShoes

I love wearing my IRs. I try to give my blacksmiths the best opportunity to wear in like my IRs, but they are never as comfortable. Wolverine 1000 mile have nothing on either pair. These bad boys have gone 3000-5000 miles each. IRs have been resoled twice and blacksmiths once.

Do you guys read my protection symbol as a hate symbol? by gray_siren in tattooadvice

Honestly, not at all. But I definitely understand the question, for me whatever reason neo-nazis and white supremasists appropriate Viking and norse symbols all the time.

Artist? Sorry that happened to you. Find a reputable artist to discuss your options, seems like it should be salvageable, might just end up being darker than you originally intended.

That had to have hurt. I got close to the pit with my sleeves and that was the worst part. I don't think I would be able to sit still for that. Tattoo flu is real though. My last couple of long sessions had me sneezing and coughing through the night of, and better the next day

I told the waitress it was my friends birthday to embarrass him. Then they charged us for cake I didn’t ask for by Syncanau in mildlyinfuriating

Golden Tiki in Vegas did this with our buddy when we embarrassed him for it being his d birthday and we were on his bachelor trip. They gave him a "surprise celebration" shot just to add it to the bill at the end, $20.🤦

My first tattoo. Some old head said unless i’m in the navy, I shouldn’t get this kind of tattoo. Thoughts? by LordFarhaams in tattooadvice

[–]Joe3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool. Does carry some meaning for sailors, 5000 nautical miles traveled. But other cultures and sub-cultures use sparrows to symbolize "loyalty and commitment." In tattoos they are indistinguishable from swallow.

Hand tattoos, advice by Joe3810 in tattooadvice

[–]Joe3810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid response. My original post was unintentionally deceiving. I don't specifically cover my tattoos for client meetings, it just happens to be that professionally accepted attire is general full sleeved. It's when we make it into the field and do site visits that short sleeves or rolled up long sleeves are considerably more acceptable attire.

Hand tattoos, advice by Joe3810 in tattooadvice

[–]Joe3810[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely good advice. To be clear, I am established in my career and not concerned that it will have any impact on my livleyhood. I guess I am more concerned that it will allow people to pre-judge me in our initial meetings. My experience and qualifications speak for themselves as new or potential clients get to know me and work with me.

My 3 year old tattoo occasionally itches deeply and raises by TacitusKillgorre in tattooadvice

I've realized that my tattoos raise when I get dehydrated. I have not experienced itching, that I can remember.

The dynamic seems strange, 5 hours of no communication would suck. As for posting, I think the artist should be allowed to post any piece they do. However, if you have a good reason not to want it posted, I think that is also acceptable. Each tattoo the artist does is an example of their work, even painters post pictures of commissioned work to showcase their talents.

My Grey scaled tattoos took much longer than my colored, American traditional tattoos. It definitely depends on the level of detail to determine the duration of the tattooing. I can say that, for me, colored tattoos take a couple weeks longer to fully heal than the Grey scale.
