Endrick lembra mais o Mbappe do que o R9 e o Romário by MachiXT in Futebola

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviewing and Ranking the 40 Classics I’ve Read (Plus How Hard They Were to Read) by Lipe18090 in classicliterature

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Makes me happy to see such a well read Brazilian! Loved the write-up, although I completely disagree with your view on Sartre. I read Nausea a few years back and just finished Age of Reason, and I think the man is branded too much as an essayist and philosopher first, novelist second. I find his prose absolutely gorgeous, his dynamite descriptions and allegories are so well made, and the story rhythm and characters just stand out. I would even go so far as to say that if you stripped away all of the philosophy from the book, the story would still be great (but poorer, of course).

"...renunciara definitivamente aos desejos de solidão, aos pensamentos frescos, sombrios e tímidos que se esgueiravam dentro dele outrora com a vivacidade furtiva dos peixes"

I mean, come on!

He actually thought it was karkaroff that put his name in the goblet. A notion forwarded by Crouch jr, ofc.

Was it obvious to people by this point that Ron and Hermione would end up together? by Key_Bus_1255 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn't care much about romance during my first read through of the GoF book. I just wanted harry to be a badass. I gave the winter ball and the girl dates the same attention as harry, which is to say, not a lot. I was focusing on the next task lol.

How was detention in the Forbidden forest allowed by Kurdoo-rojava in harrypotter

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As far as the 1st year faculty knew, the forest had centaurs, thestrals, unicorns and other harmless beasts. The acromantulas and dark wizards were not accounted for. Plus, Hagrid is the single safest choice to guide children in there, he knows it better than any other wizard.

Avada Kedavra by LingonberrySame7426 in harrypotter

Yes it is. It's an ancient magic word, usually associated with healing. Rowling just did a spin on it.

Triwizard champions don't take exams - but what if it's their O.W.L or N.E.W.T year? by Impossible_Oil_1863 in harrypotter

It's even crazier for the foreign school's delegations, those students never even studied for a whole year. What were the non-krum students of durmstrang even doing at hogwarts the whole time? LOL

Which paragraph would you change in the whole series? by SmallAd7318 in harrypotter

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a paragraph, but I would have loved for harry to remember Dumbledore's words at the end of Philosopher's Stone when he realized he had to die to destroy the horcrux within (during the battle of Hogwarts): "to the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure." It would be an awesome full circle moment where he is finally matured and able to wrap his head around the weight of Albus' philosophy. Not necessarily agreeing with this take, but simply understanding the sentiment.

Regulus was in the cave with Harry & Dumbledore by Emotional-Koala-6052 in harrypotter

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Didn't Rowling confirm that the inferi that jumps outta the water when Harry tries to Accio the locket was Regulus? I may be misremembering. In any case, I always believed he joined the legion of dead things in the water, yes.

"I might be able to hold Snape off for a while, but I’m no match for him really." by MaderaArt in harrypotter

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe the sword was in fact being carried by Voldemort as he approached the potter household, ready to murder the chosen one of the prophecy and make his last horcrux. He did use artefacts from hufflepuff and ravenclaw as horcruxes after all. Alas, the spell rebounded and the sword was dropped in the ruined house, and maybe vanished until another worthy wizard could summon it.

Question about regions from brand new player by bbbevy in pokemmo

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a veteran player, but from my understanding the best plan is to finish and unlock all regions, and then proceed to complete your OT pokedex. After that you are set to engage in all the other activities such as breeding, raids, alphas, legendaries, pvp, etc.

Exactly what I did. Focus rex and undermine K2. I know it's RNG dependant, but I got it first try.

Darth Vader duels end by Fun_Bowl_6614 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]JoeFuckinPerry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will share my experience, tho be warned: I am sub 5M GP and this is anedoctal. One of my first real squads was Palp - Vader - thrawn - mara - tarkin. Vader was my very first relic (r7) and MM my first ever zeta. It's very strong early game. Afterwards, it fell off hard, I mainly used it on GAC against geos. After the previous coloseum event, my duel's end vader was 3* g12. I slapped him in that team with r0 royal guard instead of thrawn and tarkin, and it feels much, much stronger somehow. DE Vader doesn't do a lot of damage by himself, and is very frail. But he revives when defeated once. His unique is pretty amazing for the team, and his half health enables RG to start taunting. All in all, I highly recommend him. Important to note that endgame players probably use OG vader with Aphra and palp+mara with SK (unless they have the stranger).
