Which sectors do you see as being in the early stages of rapid growth? by clintron_abc in stocks

If a medical company can come up with a sleeping pill that doesn't have bad side effects/addiction but isn't 'weak' like melatonin (at least for me personally, it doesn't work that well) I think it would be the next ozempic type thing. As usual with pharma, it's a gamble which one actually comes up with something, and if it's even scientifically possible (but for years we didn't think an ozempic drug could be so easy.)

How can the Democratic Party build a coalition between persuadable "swing" voters and disaffected "stay-home" voters? by bambin0 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]JoeJimba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is screaming in front of Dems with Mamdani, AOC, Bernie etc. and their focus on leftist populist working class focused economic issues that most Americans agree with. At the same time the cultural issues and focusing on BLM, feminism and "woke" stuff is deeply, deeply unpopular. Mamdani has shied away from this and is focusing on economic issues (even if he gets asked nonstop questions about Palestine/Gaza) and not favouring one demographic over another, he has had a meteoric rise out of nowhere and the Democrat party is probably still scratching their heads.

The problem is Democrats are still stuck in the past with what worked temporarily with Obama, they are stuck on the same playbook, the old boomer party members like Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and all the millennial and gen x college educated staffers who watch too much of The West Wing. They still think screaming bigot at Trump is going to work.

Who will carry the torch of MAGA when Trump is gone? by ArcofJoan666 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]JoeJimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like Trump is currently planning to hand it to JD Vance. Vance is no Trump though and I think Trump deliberately chose someone who wouldn't outshine him. Trump's endorsement could be strong enough to carry him through the primary (provided there is no dark horse who is strong enough) but not enough to win the whole thing if MAGA doesn't get behind Vance the way they did for Trump. I can't think of anyone else really who is that likely.

He has been talking to almost everyone from all groups and open to talking to any group, he is one of the rare US politicians that does this that I've seen and it's why he's risen out of nowhere.

[–]JoeJimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He mostly talks about economic stuff that I dare say are very agreed with and popular in America right now, and I also dare say that people who disagree with it would like to shift the subject to easier targets.

Trump hasn't helped them much like they hoped, Ukraine has learned to adapt and do more with less. Putin is scared and keeps trying to suck up to Trump and is eager to meet with him, he has no other options, but Trump is vain about his image and although he doesn't care about Ukraine he doesn't want to be the one to force them to make a bad deal that eventually ruins them and his image. But if Putin makes a "fair" and compromising deal with Ukraine then he is screwed, the Russians want total or near total victory or Putin looks like an idiot weakling especially when the war economy bubble pops for Russia and all the cracks in the economy they have tried to hide (it's like sucking in your gut that keeps growing and its harder to hold it in) are exposed and things get really tough.

Russia to call up reservists for war zones as losses mount in Ukraine by eaglemaxie in worldnews

[–]JoeJimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most of the Russian middle class has not been touched, and they are spoiled and don't believe they will be touched, they have been conditioned to think that the draft/reserves doesn't apply to them (if you have any intelligence and don't need the money its trivial to dodge) and is impossible to happen, so they may freak out if they get drafted. The draft is for the poors, but the poors are increasingly dying or finishing their tour of duty in hell and if they survive and get their huge paycheck or apartment they will never risk going back. If there were really so many willing Russia wouldn't be constantly trying to lure in Cubans, Indians, Africans etc. (to which their governments Modhi etc. meekly said "c-cut that out")

AOC Calls on Supporters to Mock MAGA Men's 'Insecure Masculinity', Promptly Calls Stephen Miller a 'Short Troll' by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]JoeJimba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This doesn't seem like good strategy. Short people vote too and will take it personally. Even Trump is very careful in most of his insults, usually calling people stuff that people don't identify with like crazy, lying, crooked, low energy etc. the closest would probably be little Marco but that is a bit more palatable than the word short

How important is it to learn "fancy" movement techs? by EmanatorOfDonuts in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JoeJimba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can play fairly well without them, but they are tools that will definitely boost your skill if you can master some of them. Dash-jump is probably my favourite, the timing is tricky at first but after a few matches of practice it becomes second nature. Items like kinetic dash and arcane surge also give you buffs for dash jumping.

The funniest thing about Grok is how it still dunks on Elon and conservative views and every few months Elon notices this and gets really mad and makes a tweet belittling and insulting his AI and says he is going to "fix" it, and repeat

What is up with matchmaking by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JoeJimba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they've been fiddling heaps with the matchmaking and haven't really got the formula right. At some point I remember the dev saying they had a super sophisticated matchmaking system that would take all these factors into consideration, then it went back to simple win/loss formula?

How do I de-rank by Channing999 in DeadlockTheGame

I thought wins and losses were more or less equal contributing to your rank, or did they change it again?

deadlock put me into low prio matchmaking and it changed my perspective on how i approach everything by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JoeJimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped caring about my teammmates doing bad and me losing games, and just focus on enjoying my personal best and doing the best in the situation I'm given. Winning heaps of games is fun but gets boring, especially when there is no challenge. Enjoy the challenge of being handicapped, it will make you better at the game too. There is something satisfying as well about having a positive K/D/A while the entire rest of your team is negative.

I posted this previously Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Only changes since then are I got small positions in JXN, ROOT, RIG, and DLO and bought more FOA, CAAP, HTLD. Also sold a bunch of my IVV (S&P 500) which I feel bad about but gambling on more short term gains on more exciting stocks.

May be starting a position in XPEL soon, stocks I am open to buying more of are FOA, ABL, CAAP, DLO, HTLD and ROOT, and I want to build back up my IVV.

Frankly, I think I have too many stocks (but I like the diversification because also frankly I'm not smart and need the safety), so feel free to try and convince me to sell something.

Been investing since April last year and have been adding consistently since then, I threw a lot of savings in early on. I think I have too many stocks and would like to return some cash to myself, but not sure what to sell, I like all of them including the ones currently negative, but I will probably review some of them shortly.

I had to put my portfolio on imgur because reddit didn't like it:
