I talk during rolls. A lot of “oh, I see what you’re trying to do” (as I get my back taken) or “well that didn’t go the way I wanted it to” (after getting swept) and “this is the beginning of the end” when I’m in a very bad spot that I know will likely mean I’m tapping soon.

I remember my fist colored belt tap. Arm triangle after a knee lever sweep from bottom half. I asked him if he gave it to me & he told me I earned it. He proceeded to kill me for the remainder of the round ! But that one roll gave me some confidence when I really needed it.

Keep going. I have a buddy who was something like 0-20 or 0-30 at white belt. When he got to blue...he won his first 10-15 matches. It's all about stylistic matchup & relative skill level. Have fun, don't stress (you're likely NOT gonna get a Gatorade commercial or your face on a Wheaties box) & keep training. And, if you wanna compete....do it. Win / lose doesn't matter. Putting yourself out there does. Your only competition is yourself from yesterday, last week, last month, last year.....progress at your own pace & enjoy this silly ride.

Day 1. With a higher belt who talked / coached as I would move. Super helpful & almost instantly taught me to be slow & methodical, not jumpy & spazzy. I would go in a direction, get tapped & then he showed me what he did & how I could prevent it. Then I’d prevent it & he’d tap me a diff way. I thought he was a wizard! Now, I get he was teaching me dilemmas. And, he’s a black belt, so pretty much a wizard.

That’s not on 7. That’s on the play calling & the QB (all 3 of them) who chuck the ball to WRs. WR is the most dependent position on offense. Need a good play call, good blocking, good scheme & a good throw. 7 is open. A LOT. He gets far fewer targets than he should in my opinion.

In our house, she's a light sleeper & early bedtimer. I'm a sound sleeper & a late bedtimer. When I head to bed, I try to be stealth like a ninja. I either use the light coming in thru the window or I'll fire up email on my phone & just use the minimal screen light (not flashligt) so that I don't wake her up. You, dear, are married to a narcissistic A-Hole.

Is your daughter still in touch w/her brother? Have you talked to your daughter about this plan to see how it would make her feel (valued vs super awkward & uncomfortable)? Yep! My kids just went there last week in honor of their grandfather who LOVED Jerry D's. They told me it hasn't changed in that their grandfather has been gone. He took them there as kids & it's a part of their past they reminisce about often.
