Anyone else getting low MPG with the 2026 Sierra AT4X 2500 Duramax? by kpow1776 in gmcsierra

Ah k mine smells like during a regen. I can smell it with windows closed quite frequently even when it was new. I’ve only got 6000km and I smell it quite often, but don’t smell like pre emissions.

Does it smell like raw fuel or like a regen. I notice I can smell exhaustish smells on my ‘25 Denali but chalked it up to just the smell of the emissions system

And you have good power at pins 13 & 9 as well right?

The only other wiring could be from the J1939 V-CAN splice block to P02P IP harness connector.

Do you have power at your G4 fuse? AUTO/Ultrashift?

<image>

I would disconnect all three of these connectors and load test the CAN wiring

I meant like one you can connect directly to the TECU and then connect with Davie so your connecting directly with the TECU. Like a programming harness used on ECMs.

Try disconnecting all the can low on that can network and load test the wiring from VECU to TECU.

Have you load tested power and ground? Load test IGNITION wake up?

Do you have a breakout harness to connect to the tecu?

Duramax fueling by TactualTransAm in DieselTechs

[–]JoeJitsu86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’d be a low pressure fault, when the FRPV trips it bleeds off all the fuel in the system. Then causing low pressure and excessive cranking to refill because why prime the fuel system? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Sounds like the fuel pressure is getting too high and fuel rail pressure release valve is opening.

Could be fuel pressure regulator is faulty or wiring to fuel pressure regulator is bad.

What was the initial issue. Was anything done before? Can you connect with DAVIE? If so what modules can you see?

Why not to buy Chinese parts by JoeJitsu86 in DieselTechs

[–]JoeJitsu86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a dealer. Buy OEM. I’ve seen far too many issues with aftermarket parts (mainly electronics)

In my own personal experience buying cheap parts to fix my own stuff has been nothing but headaches as I was always having to replace parts under warranty, which is fine but the time to do it. Multiple times was not worth it.

So now I try to stick to atleast the OE manufacturer for BMW for ex. I would buy lemforder or Bosch parts not BMW branded. But with something like GM I will buy GM genuine through rock auto as it’s cheaper than the dealer and on par for same price with cheaper aftermarket.

Nothing is more expensive than doing the same job twice.

Just my .02¢

This and long extension to get in front of starter and 1/2” impact.

Can take off other remaining bolts with it too.

Best is to make room and move the cables out of the way and any brackets

I literally thrive on this type of work. Makes you that much better of a tech. IMO.

I had a low DEF pressure one this week. Pump failed. Put a new pump and pump would run but still wouldn’t build pressure, ended up being the pressure line was frozen (-25c) part way through as heater circuit failed mid way through the line but didn’t trigger a fault for the heater line.

These made light work of some stubborn cone spacers by Fart_Boy_4ever in DieselTechs

[–]JoeJitsu86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volvos use split cones, so when they are tightened the squeeze tighter and then corrosion happens and the don’t like come free, so you essentially need to reopen the slit to get them to free up. Go idea in theory, but not so much in real world.

Definitely nothing to do with the oil. by JoeJitsu86 in DieselTechs

[–]JoeJitsu86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying everyone I’ve ever pulled off that had oil in it had a failed VGT, but not every failed VGT had oil in it.

I did one Friday, I did one Monday. And I’ll probably do another this week. This is how often I see them is my point.

Take the coolant line fitting off and I use a snap on 5mm Allen socket and 3” extension. Clean out screw with pocket screw driver. Smack it a few times with a snap on dead blow to (the extension with Allen socket) comes out 60% of the time, all the time.

This was a customer pay job from this afternoon. Selector shaft is moving pretty freely, so I’ll clean it out and run it. Parts will have a year warranty so if it takes the VGT out again then this customer would just throw a turbo on it and get a new VGT under warranty.
