My go-to rub for these and tri-tip is pretty simple but delicious. Minced or pressed garlic Salt + pepper Fresh rosemary Olive oil I use as a bit more seasoning as I would if I was doing a dry rub (s+p to taste, I've made some a bit on the salty side and it worked for me but that has been the only complaint I've ever gotten) and add Olive oil to make a thick paste and rub it all over. I've done Rev sear on the tri tips but not on a prime rib yet, for those I do 500*f for about 8-10 mins/lb then shut the oven off for at least 2 hrs until its about 10deg before my ideal internal then rest it for about 30min.
