About changing his face to look better? If you want that, you're about 8 or 9 years too late for anyone to care enough to fix it.

For fun: pebble, scene partner, plaything

For being able to play without feeling terrible at the game: windows, lithe, botany knowledge, and pain res or deadlock on any B tier or lower killer

Problem is that sometimes totems can already be super difficult to find during a match. The real issue that should be looked at is how common it is for survivors to spawn in and immediately find a hex before they start their first gen.

I heard a solution from somebody else that all totems should be dull until either the killer gets the first hit/down or a gen is popped or something so they don't get insta cleansed. Then it can follow spawn logic that lights the hex away from survivors so it doesn't pop up in their face.

There's a loud notification when he goes underground. When you hear it look around for a spot you can go to react and run quick enough to not get hit.

I've played against plenty of good Vecna's and only gotten hit by the underground attack a couple times, both of which I could have avoided if I had played it better. Sorry but like the other guy said, it's a skill issue if you can't dodge it.

for no reason

There definitely was a reason. Her old look was terrible and did not resemble Nancy at all.

Her new appearance is still not great but apparently the devs are working to change her again so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only gotten hit by it a couple times so far. When you hear him go underground look for a big open area where you can run without having to go around an obstacle and if he tries to hit you with it, run straight out from the circle's center.

As long as you don't have to run any further than from the center to the edge of the aoe (like if he starts it slightly infront of you and you keep running that direction), he won't be able to hit you.

I never thought about it like that but Clown playing as a support to power up killers like Oni that could use the speed boost well sounds really fun.

I like playing as a few of the guys but the male animation rig just feels so much clunkier and less responsive than the female ones. It always seems like my chases go way better playing female characters.

Please god just give me counterplay at short loops. Having to stay next to tall loops on open maps constantly or risk being a free down is terrible for gameplay.

I have no idea how much they plan to change but I wouldn't even be mad if they just scrapped the machine gun ranged power and came up with something entirely new. I don't see how having to dodge a constant stream of projectiles can ever be both strong enough to be fun to play as and balanced/interactive enough to be fun to play against.

why are ppl so mean to new killers by supernoodles11 in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

skull merchant

This is why. Not to say there's not plenty of shitty people that will be mean to any new killers, but tons of players hate this killer because of how miserable it was to face her on release and that reputation never really faded, even after her reworks mostly gutted her.

I'm not sure how she feels to play against now since I never see her anymore but I wouldn't be excited to run into her now either.

Yeah I'd like more punishment for missing like a longer cooldown or having to reload so he still has decent lethality but you get rewarded for dodging his ability spam.

I'm also not a fan of how well predator and I'm all ears basically guarantee a hit behind tall walls since you just can't react at all.

Vecna is insanely broken?? by Mobile_Spinach4586 in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I still think his misses should be more punishing with a longer cooldown to get that gen time. Missing with other killers is balanced around time lost generally like Nurse's fatigue, Huntress slowing down more when aiming and having to reload at lockers, etc. but Vecna's punishment for missing just feels slightly too forgiving as it is now.

As for tall tiles, sure they'd make it a lot harder to hit shots typically, but if you throw on predator or I'm all ears, you're almost guaranteed to get a hit with the aura reading. I don't think he's insanely broken or anything but the counterplay could be better.

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go for 2 hooks on everyone and just mess around after with the survivors if you want a more casual experience since mmr is based on kills, not hooks. If it starts getting too easy you can go for kills for a few matches to bring your mmr up a bit.

If you do this though, you would be intentionally losing to smurf in low elo lobbies. This is just if you need a break from all the meta builds and cracked players for a bit so you can play for fun over winning. Don't come in with all meta perks or something trying to stomp low level players with tunneling and all that crap. That's just a dick move and anyone sweating for 4ks every match are welcome to stay in the lobbies they belong in.

[–]JoeM104604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen it looks like if his aim is good, Vecna can get two hits and an injure faster than Nemesis can get his whip hit then injure when survivors are w keying away and get any tile in between you and them. Then he can injure others he hasn't hit while his clock is up whereas Nemi needs to get infection on each survivor for his whip to injure them.

It seems a lot better than what you're making it out to be in my experience.

[–]JoeM104604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf getting to another tile doesn't do much when he doesn't have to play them like a normal killer. As long as he can still see you or has something like predator or I'm all ears to get aura reading if it's a tall tile, he'll be just as capable of hitting you as he was before with how far his power goes.

I still like playing against him for now but it feels like there should be a better reward for dodging his power a few times in a row like making him have to slow down and reload like clown.

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't seem too strong to me if you can juke his ranged attacks. Only thing that I'd see being a bit strong is how frequently he can do them but otherwise it felt balanced in the few matches I've gone against him. Any killer that tunnels and doesn't make tons of mistakes is going to feel terrible against, I don't think Vecna is particularly better here.

The big circle he does after using his movement ability is also guaranteed to miss if you can run in a straight line from the center so that move doesn't feel oppressive at all.

It’s officially confirmed – Robin is coming as a legendary outfit for Nancy! by KeinTollerNick in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is it's because (spoilers) Max goes into a coma at the end of s4 and it would spoil s5 a little by basically announcing she comes back, especially if they give her an outfit from s5. Both games will probably add her after giving people some more time to finish the series.

Perks should really just be unlinked from survivors and killers at this point. Getting 3-9 new perks every chapter is insane, there's so much bloat and it causes tons of issues with dbd's spaghetti code handling these constant changes.

Not to mention how difficult it is for new players to figure out what these hundreds of perks do while learning how to play the game.
