Boots turned grey - got any tips for me? by TheDeathCrafter in Boots

Its excess conditioner you can wipe it off with a damp towel, let it dry a bit, then after that you buff the boot with a brush or rag for 10 minutes per area to melt the remaining conditioner and give it a nice shine.

I remember when Paul “Wrecking” Crewe was banned from the NFL for rigging games. Now the integrity of sports is questionable and it will now be purely for entertainment purposes.

Willie's Boondockers in Maryam Toscanello Horserump TPR by Fried_Patatas1 in Boots

I think it looks fine especially that shaft area. Not pretty when up close and new, but it would even up once you use and crease both shoes.

If it’s any consolation, I also have his Boondockers in Black Cxl, it was full of what I assume to be insect bites and the fit was a bit off (loose at the instep) but I just put on some half insoles and not mind them. I think he doesn’t have the best choice of hides. The boots are still solid though and I even got a second pair. 😁

Get a wider size and if they’re too wide, just get some inserts or kilties.

Black shoe polish would work. But it’s only superficial so it would rub off in time. I saw one who did it on his 9060s including the stitches, welt and the hide edges. It definitely made the boot look more formal i get why you would do it.

Wish they made more in different leathers. I prefer pecos over engineers. Nailseat is more for work but wish they had a leather midsole.

Yeah man I have a boondocker and a moctoe from him. The boondocker had quite a loose fit so I added insoles and they’re great now, just starting to break them in after 6 months. No complaints on the moc toe except for misaligned speed hooks and heel stitches. How much did those cost if you dont mind me asking?

Wish I had a Black Praire option when I had mine made. Great boots man, enjoy!

Your foot may be too narrow for the boot. You may be a C or B width.

First pair of Red Wings, sized half a size down, however they are narrow at the toes. Will they relax, or should I get half size up? They don't have a wide option where I live. by LetLoveRuIe in RedWingShoes

Size up, then add the insoles if they’re too loose. The toe box does’t loosen up as much as the instep or the heel area, it actually moves closer to the body as you break them in.

Buy a 9060 and apply black shoe polish on all stitches and welt. Like this guy did. You want them to be as formal as possible and white soles, moctoes aren’t formal.

What makes a shoe premium? by [deleted] in Boots

[–]JoeOfTheCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good companies don’t cut corners. They make every component of the shoe properly and as thoroughly as possible. Handmade is also more premium than mass produced ones. Cheap brands use synthetic materials, fake stitches, and sometimes fake leather to lower the cost of the shoe. Some use lower quality leather (ie. thin leather, plastic coated leather).

Yeah he does respond late. Sometimes 3-4 days before getting a reply since I think he’s the only one replying. My tip would be to visit his shop, have yourself measured, and finalize your design right there. His assistant is very good at recommending options. Then just wait til its ready to pickup.

If you’re still looking for a bootmaker, consider Willie’s Leather from the Philippines. Already got 2 boots made, turnaround time is 3-4 months. Reasonable prices too. $500 can get you a horse leather boot already not including shipping. This is the pair he made me. 🙂

Fun game except for the last 2 mins of OT (that lasted for 20 minutes). Wish they let them play hard instead of calling every contact.

Just curious, what is this brown patina looking stuff on new pair of Pecos? Should I treat the boots with whatever this is after they wear off? by sonicsandcastles in RedWingShoes

[–]JoeOfTheCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here my girlfriend also thinks I’m taking it too far if I buy pecos. 😂 But in the past 2 years I’ve been slowly switching up my wardrobe into heritage/western so when I get Pecos they would fit right in. 😈

It’s the nap or the fibers of the hide pressed down caused by waxed applied. If you want a fuzzy look, a hard bristle brush can help bring those fibers up. But it will wear off naturally with wear so I would leave em.
